Its more like Muramasa, but the combat's a little clunkier. Its all a little slower compared to Vanillaware's other games, but its still serviceable

More like Muramasa. It does its own thing though. 5 different characters, some are considerably more fun to play than others. Mercedes and Cornelius are an absolute blast to play. Gwen and Oswals less so. Velvet was not very fun at all.
PS2 release also suffered from absolutely horrid frame rate issues in certain spots.

I know this game has been Kamitani's dream project for years but I feel like its one of Vanillaware's weakest games, next to Kumatanchi and possibly Grand Knights History (fair review cant be given to GKH since the online can never be experienced again).
The game is pretty repetitive without any real reason to continue on after a certain point. Multiplayer is fine but is boring as hell when you have to watch 2-4 other people cycle through menus while youre in town. I feel the biggest downfall of Dragon's Crown is the simplified/lack of a real story. It's hard to include a really complex story into this type of game but superb stories, along with superb art, are what make Vanillaware games so great.

thing that has kept me from a vita is the cost + memory card. might run on a pstv, but then you sacrifice some compatibility.

If I remember right you get into hard mode after beating the dragon in the illusionary place once, right? In that case my sorceress should already be in hard mode. I meant 'low level' in comparison to endgame
