Hunting Rifle works well for most of the early game for sniping.
Danse's Lazer rifle is pretty good too and modded 10m pistols can destroy if you invest in the handgun perks.
Also don't be afraid to buy ammo since there's barely any other money sink in this game.

I'm a pistol fan so i invested in them, I still rip shit apart, but I've been picking up some rifles that have good base stats even without the extra damage from pistol perks (i found a rifle with 39(i think) damage, that with my perks would be higher than my current 10mm, even if it had a lesser fire rate)
I've got a pistol for .44 .45 .308 and 10mm as well as an energy pistol, they are all monsters, one is kitted to be a sniper, the others generic pistols.
Any people specialised in rifles finding them really good? I picked up a tommy gun when i ran out of ammo at the early levels and it seemed useless, way to high rof and shit damage (even taking into consideration my pistols do high damage)

I was crouching in a firefight, at a moderate distance, i was fighting some super mutants but they were shooting my companion who was right next to me, but every shot i shot with my 10mm was a sneak 2.0x hit, not complaining, saved me ammo, but it was weird.

Anyone else bothered by the fact that junk fences can't be connected? I love how they looked and I wanted to surround my Sanctuary with them but it takes me forever to align them properly. I fill the gaps with the small regular wooden walls.

If I were you, I'd use vats just for them.
They pose no threat, but my god if they aren't annoying.
Also I think whenever I meet the children of atom properly I'm gonna be pissed off, taking radiation damage is annoying in general, and from bumping into a group of them, that gun that adds radiation damage is gonna piss me off.

I never wall off my settlements because I knew the walls would be so insane to line up and because it can interfere with provisoner/trading pathing.
I just set up guard checkpoints in strategic areas with turrets in a few support areas to screen the border.

I keep a semi-auto pipe rifle just to deal with bugs. It's the only thing I use my .38 ammo for.
I use a combat rifle (.45) for everything else. God I love the gun crafting system in this game, it tickles my /k/ autism. Wish there were more options for projectile weapons.

I'm just scared of zombies man, when I played halo for the first time I had nightmares for at least 6months and slept with a shovel under my bed.

I normally completely skip crafting, but I'm really enjoying it as well, and its nice you can take mods off weapons you found and attach them to weapons you have, i've cobbled together lots of stuff on the cheap that way.

Like I said, I like the junk wall aesthetic. You just have to make gates and doors at the right places, then there's no issue.
My Sanctuary settlement is rocking about 18 people now. When do settlements start getting attacked? Also, can you equip settlers with better weapons? I'm afraid of also having to supply ammo for them.

It seems to vary. So far Sanctuary hasnt been attacked once but the Castle has been attacked a few times, while Croup Manor is almost constantly under siege despite having only 9 people in it.

I know it sucks from an RP standpoint, but you can really make it work. You're just kind of forced to give your guy an army slant.
Even if you go around as charisma and luck, you can just have your char's background RP as an officer or desk job in the army, who got promoted and avoided combat through luck or something.
If you go full intelligence, you can just say your guy had a background in military R&D, or was an engineering officer or something like that.
Full strength? Drill instructor.
Agility? Scout recon.
Still sucks to have it forced, though.
Seriously. Where do you get Aluminum from? I've got all the busted ass power armors that need completing/repairing and Bethesda seems to think that everything that is metal, even those made of tin or aluminum, are made of steel, so scrapping things just gives me steel.
This is made double stupid considering that the power armors are used as a symbol of the brotherhood of STEEL, yet these power armors are the only damn things in the game that are made of aluminum.
I thought Todd said there were 50000 hours of gameplay but everyone posting here seems quite far ahead.

I've got Road Leathers and Military fatigues, but I want to be able to upgrade them. Or, failing that, just look cooler.

I'm not using it atm for 2 reasons.
1. I want to save my cores incase the game actually gets hard
2. I want to have cool armour that doesn't make me a hulk.
Just curious if any of you have finished the game/are really far in, and are still doing ok without it?
I'd hate to be forced to use it, i'd much rather not use it at all.

Is the framerate Ass for anyone else? I get perfectly fine 60fps indoors but the cities I get like 60 with a lot of big drops. I turned it down to high but the everything is still pretty much the same, so I might as well run on ultra.

I haven't bought the game for this reason senpai. I like Bethesda games for the mods,setting and roleplay.
Since my pc is old I can't get the game for pc and therefore no modding, the setting looks really really similar to Fallout 3 (NV was different enough from 3 to be interesting), and now roleplay is impossible thanks to voice acting and dialogue wheel.
I read that this game doesn't even have the dark humor that made Fallout games so great. Why even bother.
Are there even any cool and unsettling locations like Dunwich Building, The Oasis, The cannibal family and crazy vaults ?
