The actual events are pretty 1:1 with how they are in the Olympics (ie Long Jumping is as fucking boring here as it is to watch), but they've added stuff like ping pong and Football so it might be better this time.

Nabbit doesn't really have staying power. He feels like a desperate attempt to force a character just like Petey Piranha and it always ends up backfiring.
The Koopalings mostly just take up slots, but they have history and a few modern appearances so they don't feel too out of place in a representation of the best Mario has to offer.
And my boy Iggy better be in this.

Ehh, I don't feel like it's safe to say if a character feels like it's being tacked on. /v/ loves doing that in general and it's never actually right, plus it just remains to be seen with him if he really lacks the staying power.
I think he works though. I hated Petey for basically just being one of many overgrown bosses. Didn't really make sense to toss him around as much as they did. By comparison, Nabbit feels more like a Bowser Jr. or a Rosalina since he has his own thing going on.

Marine hasn't appeared in anything since Rush Adventure. Strange because most characters besides ones who physically can't (Like Merlina, Gamma, Chaos and Chip) are usually the ones who get left out.
