>It has been announced that Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow are to be released on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console in Europe on February 27th 2016. The release of these games includes special link cable capabilities of the games to allow for battle and trading over the local wireless connection of the Nintendo 3DS.
Time to get a 3ds then I guess
>>
I don't remember... Does yellow have all the Pokémon?
>>
>>316451358
You mean remakes right?
>>
>>316451648
No. It has a mix of Pokemon from both Red and Blue and and Blue
>>
>>316451358

At fucking last I can play Pokemon again without all the breeding crap on a console without recurring to emulation.
>>
>>316451358
Don't forget that it's still Red, Blue, and Yellow we are talking about, and even with wireless working, the player vs player battles will still be the weird buggy mess.

IT'S
>>
>>316451648
It's mainly missing the Team Rocket pokemon, Jynx, Magmar, Electabuzz and I think the Weedle line. Also Raichu.
>>
>>316452063
And then they'll probably add some shit like 'buy pokeballs with real money'...

Not really, but we have this
>Japan will receive Pokémon Red, Green, Blue and Yellow and will also be released in a special bundle which comes with the download code, magnet of the cartridge, manual and a map for 1,389¥
>>
>>316452183
mew glitch is scary. Half the time on my Blue Mew doesn't have any moves and the game freezes when battling unless I taught it some moves prior.
>>
>>316452183
JUST
>>
>>316451970
In Japan they're going to sell eshop preorder cards for $10 each, but they come with a magnet, map, and instruction manual so that might inflate the price.

I'd say between $7 (like the usual GBC game) and $10.

It'll be $10 If they want to push that they had to fix the game's fucked up code to even get it to work with wireless trading and battling, because holy fuck that code is shitty.
>>
>>316452325
That's like 11 dollars
Doesn't even seem worthy of doing a physical release or anything
>>
There are a million fanhacks of it, some of which include systemic updates like the Special split and even the Physical/Special split of 4th gen. In color.

No point going back.

I like that last gen Nintendo acted like people who'd just discovered the internet, and this gen they're acting like people who'd just discovered emulation. Shit your 8-year-old self was all over.

>>
>>316456941
Not that anon, but even on a casual level, the game lacks any kind of depth at all in gen 1. Bind is the definition of no fun allowed and some moves like Focus Energy actually don't even work. There's a reason why gen 1 was marketed solely towards children and that they didn't acknowledge adult players until much later.

Have they fixed the dozens of bugs the original games have?

Is there Missigno?

Can I catch Mew?

Do R/G/B have the balance mechanics of Yellow? Are there new game balance adjustments?

Does this mean also Gen 2 games will be released in the E-Shop? Can I transfer the ones in these over? Can I Pokemon Bank them?

Weird living weird times.
>>

I don't think so.

I hope so.
>Can I Pokemon Bank them
In a perfect world, maybe.
>>
>>316457646
Things like the super training in recent games outright acknowledge mechanics that only older players know anything about, something that they'd stayed quiet about for years. And the protagonists suddenly jumped from being about 10 to being closer to 16 in BW.

>>316457675
You honestly think they will? If anything, they'll just fix the more famous ones that people would want to remain, like Missingno related stuff, and just leave the things people don't tend to know about, like stats cycling round to 0 if they go too high.

>>
>>316458136
Yes, that's what I'm saying, anon. Children don't have the capacity to analyse and really appreciate anything to the same level that adults do.
Children like Sonic Boom, but no sane adult would. Whilst Gen 1 Pokemon isn't on that level of bad, it's still pretty fucked and people only liked it because they were kids at the time.
Besides, if you really want to play Gen 1, go emulate it instead. Don't give Nintendo money for this lazy shit.
>>
>>316458241
What's the point?
XY and ORAS are pretty much all you need to complete the pokedex these days bar the 4th gen starters.
>>
>>316458241
90% of gen I/II Pokemon will be complete garbage because IVs didn't count towards the stats back then.

However, stuff like Snorlax or Machoke would be insanely OP with the latter even having a KO move that would hit every single time.
>>
honestly I'd say fixing the bugs would be a bad move

Sure the games were ungodly buggy but in a way it adds to their charm. I mean Missingo, despite being a bug, was more popular back in the days than half the 'mons on the roster. And shit like the mew glitch or glitch city are way to famous by now to ignore.
>>
>>316457613

>>
>>316458556
IVs counted toward stats in gen 1, what are you on about?
There were just only 16 different values as opposed to 32
>>
>>316458738
that's why I said "by now"
And Missingno by itself is sufficient justification for not fixing the bugs given that its the glitch that launched a thousand playground rumors

It was just in every way perfect. It was weird as shit but simultaneously incredibly useful and required a roundabout way to reach it very similar to quests or hidden secrets in games around that era to the point that plenty of kids assumed it was actually meant to be in or hidden on purpose

The glitches will all be in tact, like any other VC release. The only thing that has changed will be the link cable features (which will be replaced by wireless local communication). Although seeing as I still have a copy of the original GB game and a copy of the GBA remake, I see no reason to buy this. If they make it compatible with Pokemon Bank, then I might consider it. But this seems highly unlikely seeing as gen 1 and 2 use a completely different EV/IV system.

especially since the coding is so awful even a year after they released the game they had no idea how to replicate it and transfer data from it to the N64 version of Pokemon Stadium.

Maybe it'd be easier now to rework it from the bottom up but it'd still be a lot of work for a virtual console game.

It's this list of glitches that make gen 1 actually fun and interesting to play. You guys know that they are STILL finding out new things about gen 1 to this day? We found out that NO move of the same type as the attacked Pokemon may inflict a secondary status effect. Normal types are immune to Body Slam paralysis. Ghost types are immune to Lick paralysis.
