There's something wrong with this challenge. The scapegoat should only take one heart of damage from spikes and red poop but it takes 4 hearts at once when it does this and then has a really long invuln timer.

I finished Guardian yesterday. It really isn't that hard if you can kill bullshit bosses that rely on contact damage fast enough.
It does requiregood RNG rollsthough which I know you guys hate.
I really don't have an issue with the RNG of items, I just wish challenges were a little more tailored to the particular challenge. Removing spikes in Guardian for example.
Also I never really found Greed at the end of greed mode too difficult. If you can get to him in reasonable shape then chances are you have a good enough build to take him on.

I'm new to the game and the lack amount of items that upgrade my dmg or hearts is just fucking frutrating
The one run I managed to get more damage I only had 2 hearts to compensate. The other run I had more hearts I was still doing peashot damage with no mascots to help either.
What gives? I can't get beyond world 4 out of pure frustration at the RNG going dry inside me with no lube. Was Isaac this frustating with RNG before?

every time you start just hold R until you spawn near a gold room. go inside and see if the item is a good start for you. if not, hold R. Having the right item to start with helps a lot.

If it helps, I just finished a Lost run where I ignored Papa Satan's helpful gifts and kept a rosary bead as my trinket. Oh my gosh did I pray. I prayed every single day. And the first fucking angel room I go in had an automatic angel fight. One of the random-angle lasers got me. I had no idea that was even possible.
So be warned: I guess it's possible to be forced into an angel fight. There wasn't even a rock-breaking sound. It wasn't a glitch, it was Shitmound DickShitstain getting his revenge.

The Monstro fight before UG, and the Hush's first phase have NO BEARING on their HP or damage resistances.
They both rebalance their damage resists every few seconds while fighting them, so items like Monstro's Lung, Brimstone, Chocolate Milk, Soy Milk, Tech 1/2 shit on them (first 3 because they charge, so you can spend a few sec waiting for the resists to lower then smash for high burst, latter ones because they do too little dmg too often for the dmg resist to properly scale)

Soy Milk was never a bad item, just shitters that can't adjust to a different playstyle all call it bad because they're bad. Same goes for tiny planet.
Soy Milk lowers your damage by 80%, therefor 5 soy tears = 1 before tear, and since soy milk is a ((tear delay / 4) - 2) modifier to tear rate, it's a net bonus.
Also nice that it shits all over UG and Hush.

I can attest to this, i tested it on my own. I did asap, 30sec, 1 min, and 3 min time delays. Monstro and phase 1 Hush have no bearing on HP pools, but the bosses themselves seem to exhibit some weird dmg resistance to high freq attacks.
