It is still present it many modern game's OST. Since the uprise of dubstep 4 or 5 years ago, many movies know feature dirty wubs along side the rest of your typical orchestral instruments.

Which is great, in my opinion. Nothing sounds better than violins playing alongside some wubbies.

>>315578636

Synthesizers and effect chains nowadays can produce textures and soundscapes that are more complex and expressive than any physical instrument.

Funny how the public shits on modern electronica like its a joke, but when their favorite bands rip off big bloody chunks of sound design elements from electronica pioneers and tuck it into a traditional arrangement, people eat it up and call it revolutionary.

>I'm an awkward teenager, but I got a close group of friends, most of which are actually females, but they were essentially brown paper bags, and the one I fucked to me.

>Fandoms and tumblr become a thing on the internet around my sophomore year like full force shit, not like it was before where people were just interested in things (I'm 20 now)

>i'm no stranger, so I gave most of them a try for my friends, but to no avail. Dr.Who is the type of show people that aren't british and wish to god they were watch, Homestuck is pretentious pretending to be pretentious dribble for sexually confused teens and I wasn't about to give any kind of notice to My Little Pony because it was fucking My Little Pony

>This whole time zach has wanted to fuck pretty much every girl in our 'group' because he was still a virgin, Including the one in our group that was a great artist but her body and ass shape was something along the lines of "Yam" and "Grandma", a Yam-ma if you will. I don't get why but he wanted to destroy this girl.

>Zach starts to get into dr.who when they're all into Dr.Who, spends a shitload of his dads money to get as much meaningless merch as he can get

>Zach Gets into MLP when they all decide to get into MLP, spends a shitload of his dads money to get as much meaningless merch as he can get

>>315590408
>Also for someone who hates modern music your MP3 player is full of modern music.

Modern AMERICAN music.
>>
>>315590481
It basically just refers to the note choice.

E-------------------------------
B--------------------------------
G---5-4--------2-1-------------
D---------5-----------2---------
A---------------------------------
E--------------------------------
(Treat each individual group of three notes as a triplet)

That, to me, sounds angular. Others' definitions are probably different, but to me, angular describes sound, and it generally goes along with intervellic (sp?) relationships that don't go together very often, but angularity shouldn't be confused with dissonence (sp?).

If anybody has a formal definintion, I'd be interested to hear what it is.

The best and most significant electronic artists today, apart from Skrillex, are not American.
Excision, Datsik, and Downlink are all Canadian. Pendulum/Knife Party was/is Australian. Aphex Twin is English. Daft Punk is French. Justice is French.
Xilent is Polish (but now lives in the UK, it seems), Noisia is Dutch, Netsky is Belgian, Black Sun Empire is Dutch, Document One is from the UK, Shockone and Phetsta are both from New Zealand...
My point is, only the REALLY GENERIC electronic music you hear on the radio in America is American. If you go any deeper, you'll find different stuff. Hell, Figure is American and he's pretty interesting.

Sadly, these are two of the worst and most generic electronic genres. Just stick to the good stuff.

You can only use Invader Must Die and Doomsday so many times.

wow I've never even heard of those. are there any trap performers who happen to be traps?

Merzbow, mostly.

Try it Out was really the only instance I can think of.

Everything you say about electronic music is now null and void. Go home, never come back.

WLFGRL is definitely the superior album but I'd like to see more out of dred collective before I settle on this
>>315592654
Grimes has never looked hairier and more like a spanish man even though she's made out of animals and colors. I used to dig her when visions came out but that shit she did with blood diamonds held my interest just long enough to realize that I liked the instrumental more than her dumb fucking face.

"oh blood diamonds carry me"
"How about I hold a sword like I do in all the other vids"
"Desert!"

Doomsday is dubstep, pleb
>>
>>315593431
I don't know. Brillz is a significant trap artist.
The best trap song I know of is Rat Trap by Feed Me. Goin In (Skrillex Goin' Down Mix) by Birdy Nam Nam is a decent one, too.
Big Room House is mostly awful, just look into electro house.
>>
>>315593096
Traps going to wear itself out just like dubstep did pretty soon. There's so much generic garbage being pumped into the genre by the metric ton it's almost a 1:1 repeat of what happened a few years ago.
>>
>>315593630
It's electro house. It's 128 bpm and has a steady beat for the majority of the song.
Don't call me pleb.
>>
>>315593464
No video games use actual dubstep. I'm guessing op meant hardcore electronic.
>>
all the best video game music of the last few years has been electronic
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=milYHJ8xtIk

a truly good orchestral soundtrack hasn't been done since halo ODST/reach
>>
>>315593773
It's a shame, too, since most people don't know what dubstep sounds like and just assumes shit like Bangarang is representative of it.
>>
>>315578038
You posted a picture of Skrillex (a famous Brostep artist) then mentioned Dubstep?

I'm confused, anon.
>>
>>315593931
He has done actual dubstep. Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites and Equinox are undeniably dubstep. They're 140 bpm, have broken beats, and follow the common structure of dubstep songs.
Let's not get into this.
>>
>>315578190
Flux Pavilion was better https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5JGW4Z_lumk
>>
>>315578190
That's because the original soundtrack was good. Would have been served much better by an ambient cover than wubwubwubshit:

It's still trashy trashy dubstep, what little of it he has done. Saying he's a dubstep artist is insulting to actual dubstep artists.

Not that any of this shit matters, since dubstep died in 2012...
>>
Ill admit it.

I liked scary monsters and nice sprites.
>>
>>315594350
So you're one of those purists who thinks only shit like Benga is dubstep? That shit that's devoid of energy?
It "died" for a reason. It's boring in comparison.

>2:35 to 2:40

Where have I heard that before? It sounds really familiar.
>>
>>315594350
Do you people enjoy being so elitist? I'm genuinely asking cause I don't see where you can derive pleasure from saying popular things are shit and just hating stuff.

If you don't like an artist or certain songs, cool, don't listen to it? Listen to what you enjoy and be happy.
>>
>>315594803
Not him but you are simply a fool if the those two styles aren't incredibly different and deserving of sitinction, nothing to do with being a purist.

I'd rather have mid-late 90s electronic music back.

Man i wish people gave p!atd a chance. I really don't like I Write Sins Not Tragedies, but their more energetic stuff is pretty good.

The new has overtaken the old.
What was once "dubstep" is no longer the present definition of dubstep, but they have similar characteristics: 140 bpm, broken drum beats, and heavy bass.
The new form of it was popularized by Skrillex but goes as far back as 2008, if I remember correctly.
There is no point to get angry over a name of a genre.
>>
Even anime has dubstep. How can we bring our dubstep overlords back /v/? Platinum game with a rave asthetic and dubstep soundtrack when? Parasyte game by platinum when?

You know that 'old' (note: actual) dubstep still gets made, right? It didn't suddenly go defunct when brostep started getting made. They have similar characteristics, but they are still very different.
>There is no point to get angry over a name of a genre.
Why did you actually say this?

>>315593931

not a thing

It's a very faithful adaptation save for the artstyle. The soundtrack and visuals make it worth watching in my opinion.
>>
>>315596315
I might check it out then, I'm too lazy too look further than anime OPs usually because it gives a (probably often wrong) quick first impression.

nope
>>
>>315596021
Because you were calling modern dubstep by a pejorative name.
I didn't say it "died," by the way. I said it was overtaken by modern dubstep, which it was.
The reason why it was overtaken is because music like it (I'd even day it's more comparable to ambient) can't really be danced to and thus has a much smaller market.
The only electronic act who makes music that can't easily be moved to that I can think of that's also popular is Aphex Twin.

Aside from the anime original characters that added absolutely nothing. And the sound direction was laughably bad.
>dramatic scene where Shin sees his parasite-mom
>background music completely overpowers the dialogue
>>
>>315599272
Well i guess it depends on your poin of view. I don't mind adaptations adding stuff if it doesn't screw up the original plot. And in this case it didn't so no harm done. As for the sound thing i have to agree. It happened almost exclusively with Next to you so i guess they were very pround of that track. Overall it's still a pretty good adaptation.
