Obviously they chose wrong then. I've said this before, but I'm going to say it again: they NEED to pander to their current audience to even have a hope of surviving. That means they need to make another fighting game (or something very similar like a beat 'em up), they need to crank the fanservice up to 11 like Skullgirls did, and they need to make a cast that consists of absolutely absurd designs like Skullgirls did.
Indivisible is failing exactly because it is the polar opposite of Skullgirls. The genre isn't in something that has (or can have) a rabid following, the fanservice is virtually nonexistent, and the cast's designs are horribly bland. It also doesn't help that every single attempt at publicity/advertising the game has been Mike Z moaning incessantly.

Depends. A lot of small devs need to learn to keep their cool and realize it's just the internet.
I'm actually pretty sympathetic to devs when a game they worked pretty hard on gets blasted by some dumbass. It's infuriating to see that work you put several years into just get thrashed.
But they need to remember that for every guy that hated it, there's like 5-10 more that enjoyed it. The bad memories and the complaints stick to your brain more than the compliments and the appreciations.
I'm not saying devs should avoid critical posts or anything, but they need make sure to avoid posting any angry emotional posts because all it takes is one to start a PR disaster.

Every dev goes through this. Game development is incredibly hard and masochistic but the satisfaction you get from just shipping the game is huge. Now imagine getting fucking awards for it. All these things are massive accomplishments that we all see everyday but that stuff is no joke. 6 month crunch periods over 4 years where you're not allowed to say anything to your family.
