It's set in Erebonia, and you play as a class of students from a military school as you are sent to do your assignments which are military missions and whatnot, along with school related shenanigans. I forget if the first had it but the second game has relationship systems between the main character and the rest of partynone of which changes the ending, and the Sen games seem to forshadow someone who might be a major villain at the end of the overarching story.
Also the main character is just a complete shitheap for several reasons.

Yeah it's a chore but it's easy since the attacks are predictable and easy to avoid. The dash button is magical and dodging at the last moment will freeze the boss a couple of seconds so you can rape his face. Not really interesting though, I agree.

But I have a soft for characters who do the world saving thing just because it's the right thing to do even when they have every right to back out.
