I would say PS4 gets the edge. PS4 displays most games at 1080p while Xbox will usually do 900p. Xbone games tend to have better performance also and the PS4 can't do texture filtering which makes the image quality on Xbone better in that respect. The PS4 is better overall because I prefer the controller. I love the share button and it's easy to share stuff.

I really prefer the buttons. I think the input really comes down to preference. I think xbone has way better triggers and they do offer greater choice with the elite controller but overall if you've only used Sony before you're likely to prefer the PS4.

I've been idort for a long time. I've always preferred the bigger controllers. I like genesis over snes, Dreamcast over PS1, Xbox over ps2, and so on. Hasn't stopped me from buying a system, but makes a big difference on how many games I do get on that system. I hated adapting to shitty dualshock layouts for fighting games so I spent time at arcades. I really need to find a fight stick because the DS4 makes it way harder for me to pull off clean inputs than the DS3 ever did.
If you want a weeb machine with a lot of titles coming out in 2016 as well as 1080 with 30 fps on majority of its games: Get a PS4
If you are more into the more first party american exclusives like Halo, Gears of War ECT. at 720 30 fps: Go get an Xbone
In the future, there MAY be a chance that a lot of titles from the Xbone will come to PC in the form of Windows 10 games and thus eliminating the need for an Xbone if you have a decent gaming rig
Beyond that: It's up to you whether or not if you make a decision to buy a console. You could take the idiort route and buy them both. You have to ask yourself which console will you get the most enjoyment out of by looking at the lineup, looking at the xbones beta backwards compatibility vs PS4's subscription to play it's older games for additional payment, and whether or not you care that the PS4 has better hardware thus better graphically wise.
I would say get a PS4, but this is coming from someone who is a Sonygger as well as a PC faggot. So there may be a little bias in this post but fuck it.

What I find this gen is that xbone is a lot like the Xbox HEUG where it's getting lots of cool games that no one is paying attention to because everyone pays attention to the triple A releases that don't has marketing rights for. Every game I've played on my xbone has been pretty fuckin cool, and I'm glad about it. I don't care if the system is doing well, the gAmes are fun. Sunset was fun, Forz a Horizon 2 was fun, Halo 5 is fun, Rare Replay was fun, and a couple multiplats that were cheaper to get on disk than on steam were fun.

I think the PS4 has better specs but I'm not sure on that. Either way what really matters is the games. Exclusives specifically but if you're someone like me with a shitbox of a computer, any game in general will come into the equation.
I can only speak personally but more PS4 games interested me than Xbox one games. The only things I really wanted that I can't play on the PS4 (and my toaster) are D4 and Rare Replay. And one of those is just a collection of old games I can probably emulate anyway.
I have an Xbox 1 and a PS4 and from my experience PS4 is better. It is so much faster/responsive and the menu is a lot less complicated. The PS4 controller is also lighter and less clunky that the Xbox one. With Xbox live you get 1 free game per month. With PSan you get 7
I fucking hate weebshit, so I went with xbone. Netherless, someday I'll also buy ps4 for some worthy exclusives, when there will be not just one bloodborne
