It has a vastly different structure to Souls in both terms of mechanics and world structure.
For mechanics, the biggest one I see is that your class determines your moveset and abilities, intead of where in Souls games your stats and equipment determine them.
World-wise, Dragon's Dogma is just a big open field, whereas Souls is more open linear paths to different unique areas.
Sure both games have swords and sorcery but how they play is vastly different.

Warrior needs the health and defense so play Warrior for a while at least. Their weapons make up for the strength stat. Their skills are strong too. You'll be a great tank doing Warrior and Sorcerer though. Then a dope Mystic Knight. >>312966705

Well, for one I'm no minmaxer so when I did it I didn't really give much a shit.
But I found that a mix of those with a general lean towards Warrior for the HP gains worked really well for me.
Personally I put the HP at the most important stat to focus on leveling, since you can't boost it to absurd levels simply by using endgame gear.

Nope, you can go there from the very beginning.
It's actually fun seeing how long you can survive at level one. If you're good enough you basically get overpowered from the very beginning by completing the first quest there (reach a certain room).
Why is this game so fucking great? I haven't touched it in a while, but god damn I put hundreds of hours into it and even after a year or so since playing, it's still the most fun I've had with vidya in ages. Going through BBI for the first time as a warrior is something I'll never forget. The experiences you get in this game are something you just don't get in other games.

Depends on the Vocation, usually melee oriented classes like Fighter, Warrior, Strider want Scather as a main inclination with Challenger as a secondary. Ranged classes like Ranger probably want Challenger as the main and Scather the secondary. I'm not totally sure about Mage / Sorcerer Pawns as I've never had one.

I broke it down into different things. First, just playing the game. Next, exploring all the classes. Then I did a ton of hiring as a service. Once that got old I started taking pics. Then I tried actually RPing for once.

The main problem I had with the game is that the optional sidequests pop up, usually after every story mission and are missable unless you backtrack through the entire already traversed game area and check every NPC to see if they have something new to say.
It's more than a chore and it always gives me an uncomfortable feeling that I missed something and I need to go check if I did.
Playing with a guide is preferred but then it saps a lot of the fun out of discovering cool stuff.
Other than that the mechanics of the game are great.

micro-transactions are basically pay for convenience, you can buy small 'passports' for increased exp or rewards from quests for a few hours, generally not worth the price. Only thing you could justify the price is the passport that gives you access to the extended storage and 5 extra slots in the bazaar and removes the cooldown from it. game is perfectly playable without it, I've been enjoying it.

There is literally no challenge at all once you are like level 25 onwards. I had to put so little thought and effort into fights that i found myself spacing out, i always carried twice my weight in non used consumables and my bank was full of them, every ingredient i picked met absolutely fucking nothing because i was never gonna use it anyway.
