Dragon's Dogma is the most different. It's also the best choice. That being said, I'd say go with Demon Souls to see if you like the Souls games. If you don't like it then you won't like DaS. Dragon's Dogma is a great game no matter what. Too bad you missed it when it was free on PSN a while back.
Metal Gear Solid 4 is definitely my favourite PS3 game. I love that series and that game just ramps everything to 11.

You know what's fucked, Microsoft dropped support of the 360 almost entirely as soon as the Xbone came out and no one questioned it or batted an eye, no one cares. People still buy an Xbone anyways because new games. But Sony continues support of the PS3 well into the lifespan of the PS4 and rather than enjoy the extra games and time with the console, people shitpost about how the PS4 is irrelevant because Sony is actually supporting their console family. I wonder if they should have just killed it off ASAP.

I beat The Last of Us last night and I kind of liked it. It felt a little repetitive at time (especially when Joel gets separated from Ellie and has to go through spores, I sighed and stopped playing each time to do something else) The ended felt a little hamfisted though, overall I'd probably say it was 8/10. Some parts were done really well and I appreciated the horror aspects of it. Winter is probably my favorite chapter because of that part whereYou have to escape the people chasing you as Ellie and you can fucking go full ninja on them

Got a launch, fully BC 60GB PS3. The thing has been trucking along since December of 2006. I'm a big fan of Taro Yoko's work, so both NieR and Drakengard 3 would be my top pics for the "best of," although D3 isn't for everyone. That's a hard one. I don't really see all the hype in Ico & SoTC, namely in how Ico just feels clunky to me, and I feel bad about starting SoTC before finishing Ico. Maybe I'm a pleb.
I have to go Jak HD for actual games, and MGS HD for port quality (since MGS2 was 8.5/10, Peace Walker was grind/10, and MGS3 was 12/10). ZoE is also great post-patch.

12GB can be found for 100 dollars somewhat regularly on ebay.
Of course, you aren't going to get very far with 12GB. When I got mine with the Skyrim, all the save data added up to about 7 GB.
I got a ton of usage out of my ps3. The exclusives were good enough to actually make buying a console over them worth it. It also turned out to be really useful as a Smart-TV/DNLA streamer, and amazing for downloading games like DOA5 and sports games and playing them with 4 people at any time cus its saved to the internal drive. I broke both my official controllers out of game rage though

The launch PS3 was honestly beautiful. You got 4 USB ports, 3 of which were in regular use by me, built in Wifi, all that BC, and the thing is an absolute beast as far as media formats accepted and files its willing to play. Want to play music that you have saved on an SD card? No problem. Want to stream video from a Memory pro 2 card? Go ahead. Want to rip a CD right onto the hard drive, and then transfer it to a portable hard drive? It's possible. Want to use a fucking boot disk to have Ubuntu on the PS3? It could do that.
It was one hell of a machine, and I think the vast majority of the public really didn't know what they were missing.

Don't forget about that OS. I fucking loved its simplicity. To this day, I've never been able to understand what the hell the 360 was trying to pull. They went from the blade system to some sort of mix between the PS3 and Mii's from Wii, to some sort of Metro look. The Wii was nice, except that you can't just press a button to highlight anything, you have to wave the wii mote around.
But the PS3? If you couldn't find what you were looking for very quickly, I honestly don't know what to tell you. I don't think its even possible to simplify it more than what they have. XMB was beautiful in its absolute simplicity and minimalism, and I'm truly sad to see it go and get replaced by something like Orbis.

The way I saw it, I was money ahead over the 360. Even if you only paid 30 bucks per year for Live, that added 240 dollars to the 399.99 console price (for the console that actually came with a hard drive).
And lets face it: while some people shopped around for the cheapest price and called MS to get an additional 3 free months for every year that they had live, the vast majority of people just spent 50 bucks per year, which would add another 400 bucks to the console price over 8 years.

It depends on the console, but for the most part, you are right.
Take this image, and every image of the fat PS3. They always showed it standing up. Add the text direction, and it really tries to make you think that you should stand it up, but it is probably one of the worst things you can do to the poor thing.
