Because trying to legitimately compete in the MMO market is a fools errand. WoW looms over everything with all the scraps of the overarching userbase WoW doesn't hold already attached to a few much more minor games or having left the MMO market entirely and moved onto mobas.
Never the less people keep on trying to compete and keep on failing. Its the same phenomena that keeps the western devs putting out shitty CoD clones that inevitably die out almost immidiately

In the guild we had for Scarlet Blade, it was dead within 8 weeks, along with the /vg/ threads.
Seems like porn in MMOs can't carry an MMO alone. A porn MMO with good gameplay though... that would almost be too good to be true.
