The character writing has the usual problem of really older men trying to write dialogue for teenage women and it never sounds believable.

Besides the shoutouts to much better media (except for Spirits Within) to make it sound cool, it's a boring use of time travel skills, and it's going to be contained to another general town. What ever happened to grand adventures? I had this same problem with Gone Home; if the entirety of the house had been condensed into a prologue-sized chunk and it then cut into a similarly-controlled Thelma And Louise with the daughter and her lesbian friend, then I would have at least liked the concept. The prominence of females in it doesn't bother me, the blue-haired punk poseur doesn't bother me, and how the writers attempt to shit on people who like guns and hunting doesn't bug me (though the security guard father owning a 9mm revolver does). At least there's a significant threat here, presumably trying to stop a fucking tornado from obliterating the town. But why does it have to be contained to a town? Why not let you go back to Seattle or into Portland for a day, for a little variety?
