This game is really starting to get to me. I've helped about 10 or so players do their hr5 black gravios urgent. I still need to do mine, but everytime I try the previous person who reached HR6 leaves and everyone follows, or the group I'm with three carts. Last one really pissed me off, a glaive user mounted the monster 4 or 5 times and failed the mount every time, and I can confirm the other player I was with wasn't hitting it, and the g rank guy in the group three carted so I'm just stumped. I've attempted the urgent 4 or 5 times and I've maybe carted once and that's only because deltas armor with -20 fire resist, of which I'm eating for fire resist now just to be extra careful. Fuck this I'm better off soloing it.

I'm not too far into the tree, so I could almost trivially make another Gore insect glaive and plan for a proper bug. Would it be worth it? Would I still be using a Gore IG in G rank to justify that?

Absolutely. Style bombing is one of the best sources of damage in single player, and in multiplayer, they're really good at support or elemental damage, depending on how you have them specced. They're the only weapon that can use items while unsheathed, so beyond the obvious faster usage of healing items, you can also use support items and tools at a moment's notice.

You stack first stringers of your desired forte. 3or more changes the ace's to that, though you only need two to get the basic skill from that forte on him.
So say you want your ace to be healing, then you would put 5 Healing cats as first tringers. Or you want it to be a general backup type, you can do something like 3 Healing, 2 Support for health horn, detox horn [from the Healing cats] and shock traps [from the Support cats]
Leadership is just the default when you don't have enough fortes stacked to change your ace's. It has nothing to do with the team attacks.

You know how you can overcome the frenzy virus and temporarily become stronger? Later monsters can do the same, except they get way more buffs (attack, defense, speed, sharpness threshold), and it's not temporary. Wystones give a temp buff that provides any number of effects like attack and sharpness boosts against frenzied/apex monsters, and if you attack them enough with the buff active, you can momentarily cancel the frenzy/apex state.
They're infinite use, too – they just run on cooldown timers.

The general consensus seems to be something along the line sof that. Mainly because 4U brought back a whole bunch of really shitty 1st/2nd gen monsters but didn't really update them aside from fixing the hitboxes.
The new monsters are pretty hit-or-miss as well. I think the only ones that are unanimously agreed to be the best are the bugs.

Understand that I've been fighting gen 3 monsters since Tri, that's 6 years of fighting the same monsters.
The returning "throwback" Monsters were a welcome change. Plus this game has like 80 large monsters in it.
Fighting Gobul on land only would have gimped him. Many of the 3rd gen Monsters involved swimming for the larger part of their movesets.

Poison will do a set amount of damage over time based on the monster.
Some monsters it does a crazy amount in a few moments.
Others it does jack shit.
Blast however is like a bomb, once it explodes it does it's damage, which I think is based off the actual status number.
As for using a GS for status it's not the best thing you can do, but since they usually have a large amount of status you can technically apply it faster than an SnS or DS since it would take 3 swings instead of however many the other weapons need.

Blast is technically a status but it's in this limbo where it behaves kind of like an element so just about anything can utilize it. Status is better suited to faster weapons like DS and SnS.

Poison builds up until the monster is poisoned and it gets those purple bubbles over its head, at which point it deals damage over time until wearing off. It gets harder to poison a monster and the poison lasts for a shorter time with each application.
Blast builds up until it explodes and deals a chunk of neutral damage to whatever hitzone took the proccing hit. Monsters become more resistant to slime buildup with each explosion.

I use the LR Lobster armor is high rank, just don't get cooked! Fire is your ultimate weakness.
I used the additional gem slots to max out the evasion stat. Be warned, it's more of a gimmick set. The defense is somewhat low compared to other armors.
On the flipside, it has evade distance which actually lets you climb/leap up walls faster.

No. It's just like paralyze, where you're simply building up a meter that activates the status once filled.
In general, poison/paralyze/blast are sort of good "lazy" options. As in, bringing a weapon of the proper element would do far more damage, but statuses are useful against pretty much everything and are more versatile when you encounter multi-monster hunts that might have widely varying weaknesses.

Seltas Queen is my favorite monster in this game.
