Wha? I have a 970, and unless a game is something brand new that's going to be taxing even at 1080p, I play it downsampled at 1440p or above. Modern games that aren't particularly taxing (X-Com, Diablo 3, etc>) I can run at 4k and still average around 100 FPS.
It's a good card for a decent price. The 3.5 thing sucks, but it still shits on the vast majority of what's out there in terms of value.
