So far I've noticed that you can cast spells with your whole party by channeling the spell with them, the loot is shown at the beginning of each encounter so you can decide to kill the leader of a group to get the loot or risk him running away but killing all his minions to get maximum exp.

Before the fight begins, there is a roulette that happens that determines what you get for beating the leader of the pack. Each fight has a leader that if you kill will end the fight and get you the prizes but he will run away if things don't look good for him, so you got to balance between killing his cronies and killing him if you want he most exp. Also your allies have suggestions for their actions. You can turn them down and manually control them but doing it too much hurts their loyalty towards you.
