Is the insect glave OP as shit or something? When I use GS, monsters tend to be a bit of a challenge, but every time I switch to my upgraded glave, I destroy niggas.

Gore is easy peasy. Start the fight by strafing and hitting his tail. You can hide under him and attack from there if you're feeling ballsy, most of his attacks can't hit you there. When he frenzies, that's when you gotta change your gameplan. Mounting and then wailing on his feelers is great. Otherwise keep your distance and punish his attacks by hitting his feelers. He's got a huge danger zone in front of him when he's frenzied, so hitting his head is the priority.

It looks like every hit you do is a critical hit because if the first hit in a combo is critical every successive hit will be too (same thing for negative crits) and dual blades have long multi hit moves.

If you've just fought Gore then it's definitely a good weapon. The Tetsucabra one beats it in raw, but it lacks the sharpness and affinity. Schattenstolz actually gets white sharpness with sharpness +1, which is nuts in low rank.

Where the hell can you find Scatterfish? I got a Palico that can put monsters to sleep, but I can't take advantage of it because ho-hum, Scatterfish are rarer than the Umbrage I'm still hunting for.

I don't think it's worth it, after all each hit doesn't do much damage and criticals are just a 25% boost I think. Elemental Crit and Status Crit are better since Dual Blades are already good at doing elemental and status damage. But I think those are G rank armor skills.
