I also found it impossible to involve myself unless I did everything on foot cause seriously FUCK the driving in this game. Main reason I dropped it. It's a shame cause I like a lot of things about SD but seriously man. The driving is anti-fun.

I have and it feels hollow as hell, in the sense that enemies just stand there, doing fuck all, the world does not exist outside of the player's interactions with it, and no amount of great design will create as much atmosphere as a world that at least feels like it's going on.

That's exactly how I felt about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. I enjoyed both games, don't get me wrong, but the atmosphere is DeS is undeniably vibrant. It's the only thing the game has going for it nowadays, since the game has been forgotten by time, it seems. Real pity since the game should be hailed as a classic by now but that title was stolen by the much popular meme game.

Just play just cause. It's essentially the same. The AI or both pointless but the police/military are decent. You can blow more shit up in just cause

Atmosphere is a measure of immersion, the more atmosperic a game is the more you "get lost" in it, losing any sense of time or your surroundings. It's what you felt when you used to play vidya as a kid, basically.

First Prototype portrays the city succumbing to a pandemic quite well, just on bigger scale. I always loved to just walk around infected parts of the city and watching military fight the infected.

Sleeping dogs look and layout was really good but that game was dead as fuck if you tried to walk around anywhere other than markets.
Sunless Sea is the best because it misspells words and is Cthulhu-like andHas a bunch of landmarks named after video game writers and journalists I rate it 9/10 for atmosphere.
