Turns out, the Chosen One thing was just some bullshit made up by the He-She Moon God to trick some stupid schmuck into doing a lot of leg-work, killing some dangerous monsters, then lighting themself on fire to burn for all eternity to restore the power of the Gods?
At the end, you can sacrifice yourself anyways, to free humanity from the curse of undeath; or you can say fuck it and let the Gods' power crumble and rule the Earth yourself. And probably turn into a mindless zombie.
