Well yeah, guard up, but when you're using a set based around artillery like the queen armor you have to get stamina reduction over any of the defensive stuff. I didn't feel like fighting him again with it so I just switched to GS with diablos armor. I haven't needed to upgrade that armor yet and I'm in G rank. It doesn't look like much, its roar is forgettable as fuck and its only dangerous attack is the retard walk.
Walking looking silly at a brisk pace with slightly bullshit hitbox, that's the best it has in store.
And it sends people carting by the dozens, but it doesn't really feel like a threat, more like a chore.

There was a minor reason for that in the original monster hunter, Khezu didn't have an eye icon (So you couldn't tell if he saw you) which sort of meant they didn't trigger a battle theme mostly to add to the suspense of fighting an enemy you couldn't see. It's a bit easier if you forget aiming and fire the bug at point blank. This is also how to get the Brown buff from a lot of wyvern chests.
Also remember that you don't HAVE to mark the monster to fire the bug. I like just firing it off when I'm running towards it or waiting for an opening, since you can't always be in melee range safely.

Don't get put off by Low ranks difficulty. It's easy, but it's perfect for beginners to the series. High Rank is where the game gets difficult and G-rank is basically suicide if your not careful. What I'm saying is, don't get put off by the easy start, the difficulty kicks in later on and hits you hard.

Do expeditions until you get a Velocidrome Guild Quest (you'll have to kill big monsters in the expedition to get chances at guild quests. Velocidrome can give the velocidrome guild quest, but just know most of them are not like that), then in the start menu register the quest. After that you can launch a Velocidrome hunt out of the online hall thing. Every time you do the quest it will level up, eventually becoming High Rank or more, when it hits high rank you'll have to go farm another, which should be easy.

That seems to be a recurring trait with raptor type monsters, as I've also seen Great Baggi do it, and in particular Wroggis and Great Wroggi absolutely loathed Uragaan, way more than even Agnaktor or Brachydios.

Most monsters were designed with a bunch of time waster moves where you couldn't really do much but sit and watch and move out of the way occasionally. It was pretty lazy.

Pink Rathian appears to be my first roadblock in a Monster Hunter game ever.

Actually element crit is still better on fast weapons, because you can just get expert +3 or latent power +2 or both with crit element on an already positive affinity weapon and you'll deal more element that any greatsword could hope for.
Problem with GS is that even with the damage buffs to elements they just aren't enough to make up for that ridiculous divider of 10. You get some extra hits, but literally status and raw are still going to likely be better on GS. Because you actually build openings for triple charges with most status' or deal tons of extra damage on raw weapons.
The only monsters whom will see a problem from elements with a GS afaik, are those that have really strong hitzones that don't take jack shit raw damage but take like 1.5x to 2x as much as the raw hitzone from element.
But I literally love the Nersylla Greatsword awakened. You can set up bombs on the side and triple charge the weakest zone when asleep and deal ridiculous damage.

Before the Wii version of Monster Hunter, it was not that popular, and the popularity of it spiked with the 3DS versions.
Even when people discussed the PSP versions, the entire thread were about "my weapon is better than your weapon" and "nerf this, nerf that" shit.
But those threads happened only sometimes, now it's that same shit, discussed everyday.
The weapons are quite balanced, and people fail to see that the game would like you to master at least two or three of them, but people don't, then they complain about other weapons, or the monsters who are harder to beat by using their favorite weapons. And don't even get me started on equipment discussions.

FU had the stupid balance issue of him giving the damage of monster later on in his rank but with the added detriment of wearing armor of the previous rank.
For me it was kill him as fast as possible before he kills me. He was much harder than he was in the later games but he was more predictable so the get in and get out weapons/lance were VERY effective.I think he was nerfed a little too hard though.

That ridiculous divider of ten applies to all weapons, not just Greatsword. It isn't even really a divider, it's just that the element value across all weapons is bloated, just like the raw value is.
The raw value is bloated by different values to give a casual observer an estimate of how strong each hit is between weapon types while also giving a measure of how much stronger a weapon is compared to another weapon within its own type.
Element values are bloated by ten across all weapons because they're generally not modified by any attacks other than Switch Axe Element Phials or Greatsword strikes. The bloating gives the casual observer a general idea of how much element they can expect to come out of their weapon compared to the average hit.
The thing about Greatswords is that while they are a raw-dominated weapon, they get some of the absolute beastliest element values of any weapon in the game even before multiplication, and due to the fact that you always want to run them with crit draw, depending on the weapon versus the monster crit element is best used on them than anything else. Why would anyone use Crit Element over Element Up for Dual Blades or Bows or SnS, especially considering that it stacks with Element Atk+3 now?
It's very obviously a skill designed for Greatswords, since they are very obviously trying to make it less dominated by just the absolute highest raw weapon you can get. Nothing else gets even remotely similar crit rates without having Frenzy Res / Biologist and using Chaotic Magala weapons.
The skill is obviously designed to bridge gaps between raw domination and raw with element domination, not to make raw with element domination even more pronounced than it already is.
