About 5 years ago before I started going to a real university I was working construction, working 40-50 hours a week on average, going to school 2 nights a week for 4 hours for E.M.T.
Anyway, had to work a 70+ hour week, one of the days was 22 1/2 hours on a job that had to be done right away (didn't even get paid triple time BTW), this was 4 days before the final skill test and exam
Because I worked so hard and had such little sleep, I ended up getting really really really sick and having to go to the hospital. And since I had one of the teachers that had a no excuse rule on missing the final, I ended up wasting an entire semester, even had 88% in the class
Kinda why I would rather just take out loans and live off financial aid and do twice the amount in school. Even if I incur more debt, it's worth it.

A more powerful system costs more to make and to buy. Nintendo's hendhelds have been consistently successful because they were at a good price point. Customers could afford them and games were inexpensive to develop.
Look at literally every single would-be competitor to Nintendo's handhelds. They were almost always technically superior by a wide margin, even to the point where they were in full-color or 3D when Nintendo's handheld was not, but failed to sell because they were too expensive to both buy for the end-customer and to make games for. The PSP only sold as well as it did because of rampant piracy. Affordability and accessibility are paramount for handhelds.
I guess wether or not you should care is kind of linked in to where you are. I'm in birmingham UK and to be honest the only people I ever see playing a 3DS are people lingering round Oasis Market in city centre. Now don't get me wrong, I hold no dislike for these people, but why do they ALL insist on wearing similar shit, talking similar shit and similarly being as shit as other 3DS players? They will hold no regard for the general public, shout loudly, not look where they're walking, show no consideration for eldely people who are near them.
I will happily play my 3DS on a bus or on my lunch break at work, but god-fucking dammit does your average 3DS player here ensure their is no smoke without fire. I mean, think of it this way. Say PS4 has 100 games, but Vita has 500 games because they are cheaper and easier to make, even if only 1/10 of the games for both systems are good of course Vita will have more good games in number. That doesn't mean that PS4 isn't an all around better system capable of more, and the good games that PS4 has to offer aren't generations ahead of the Vita.

I can definitely see owning a DS or handheld game when I have the money for it because I will play games out when I'm in public waiting. I am the guy that plays the PSX games on his phone with a controller, I don't give a fuck cause it's the best I can afford right now and PSX still has amazing games, even if the graphics are dated, but when I get home I never play on my phone.

Its actually healthy to take breaks with work and school, as a person tends to be more productive and do more with the time they have. As long as a person doesn't allow video games to become a distraction there shouldn't be any problem.
It's like a person that works full time and goes to school full time, they never have any time off and tend to do poorly in school and in work, that's not to say they aren't bust ass hard workers that would really excel in one area.
