In dark souls 1 there was a huge group of people who got extremely mad over small slights during fights.

Demon's Souls and Dark Souls are masterpieces, git gud at them.
Bloodborne gets a ridiculous amount of hate and everyone fucking knows it's because it's PS4 exclusive. At the very least, 90% of the criticisms levelled against it are either arbitrary, can be also used against dark souls (but aren't because dark souls isn't PS4 exclusive) or in some cases just flat out incorrect and are just buttblasted people.
Don't get me wrong, I love video games and I'm the complete opposite in my view of exclusives. I want everybody to play a game, I want to be able to chat vidya with my friends and on this board no matter what console/PC you play on. But goddamn this community is straight up cancer when it comes to exclusives. I started on Dark souls and while I loved 1 and 2, I can't stand playing demons souls. The npcs and areas are top notch but fuck me if the game doesn't feel clunky and have some dumb as shit game design decisions.

Don't buy into the "prepare to die" hype. You don't need to be eased into it. If you are having problems, you can grind, upgrade equipment, learn magic, and most importantly, summon people to help (read: beat for you) the hard parts. Go get Dark Souls, it's the best one, and it's not going to be ported or updated, so you may as well get it now.
The only unavoidably punishing part is the Anal Rodeo archers, and like many things, you can just keep trying to run through it till you make it.

Play Dark Souls 2 at 4k 60 fps with enb's and some texture mods + some personal fixes and skips to annoying parts (like intro screens) and the fast ass load time all on PC.
Then go play Demon's souls. It's such a downgrade, and Demon's is a good game too. If it was on PC it would feel so much better since you can personally improve it.
