I dislike Super Metroid when it came out because the game was such a disappointment compared to the original Metroid. The original Metroid kept you going for months and the game was bloody hard. Super Metroid could be beaten with a rental. The game lacked mystery. It had great atmosphere and music, but it didn’t connect the same way the original Metroid did (and Metroid II was well liked for as much as it could do on the limited Gameboy platform).

Though I think both are great in their own regards it would be nice to have a return to the difficulty of the original Metroid but with updated mechanics.

I'd like to see the series revisit the multiple planets concept from Corruption, but instead have each planet have its own gravity. Smaller planets having floaty physics, and huge planets with fast falling and pressure until you can get the gravity suit to counteract it. I've had some people saying more planets would ruin the atmosphere of the game, but I think each planet could be designed to keep it intact.

I don't think I can agree that each planet could be designed to keep the atmosphere of the game intact.
If they put too many planets into the game then each one just becomes a tourist attraction. Part of the appeal for me in exploration of a planet is that it takes a damn long time to explore it all because planets are huge.

Prime 2 takes the most time out of the entire series. Expect a good 5-6 hour marathon because the dark world is cut off during alot of sections and it has a ton of backtracking.

A Retro title that takes advantage of the Wii U's power to create a more seamless overworld and some larger areas to explore to help make the planet feel less artificial.
Some parkour elements reminiscent of Mirror's Edge and a giving Samus a faster moving option would be a nice way to incorporate the athletic feel of her 2D incarnations and provide new methods to explore the environments. A faster speed would be necessary anyway if they increase the scale of the world.
I'd also love to see them build on some of the lore from Hunters. Weavel, Sylux and the Kriken Empire all hold a ton of potential.

I know Other M is awful but it's the only Metroid game I haven't beaten several times and it's been gnawing at me ever since. I tried playing it back when it came out and about 2 hours in I reached the point where I didn't want to walk through a new door because it might trigger another cutscene. I was always somewhat disappointed in Magmoor; It really felt like Mag-less. I would have liked at least one boss for the area but the closest thing to a boss in Magmoor is remembering the right elevator to take when I need the fastest route. Kind of like a subway in that sense.

A few months ago.
The big appeal of the Metroid series for me is finding cool new equipment, the impeccable atmosphere and exploring the alien worlds. I thought that, in those aspects, Echoes and Corruption greatly improved on Primes concepts.
Talon IV was well designed but I never fully believed it was this real world. The map wasn't very cohesive, jumping from snow to desert to magma in an instant, and felt a lot like it was going through the Mario game level checklist.
Aether, Bryyo, Elyssia and Urtraghus were all extremely unique and had some of the best art direction I've ever seen in a videogame. The lore was much higher quality than the original games too and they were constantly surprising me with locales like Sanctuary Fortress and Skytown.
The higher difficulty, fleshed out combat and stronger narratives helped too.

Boosty. It's at a point in the game where you're kinda low on energy and there's no crystal to save you. When it goes into ball mode it can rek you if you miss with your bombs. Quadraxis rains ultra energy and you have the dark suit by then so it's all good.
If the series ever tried the planet hopping again I'd love to see a bit where Samus is forced to visit K-2L.
After spending the entire series exploring these hostile alien environments and incredible lost civilizations it would be really interesting to explore the ruins of her own home in a tiny Earth colony.
It'd be a neat way to actually let one of the games go into her past life without dedicating too much time to it too.
the metroid timeline seems a bit cramped unless they wanna have sequels with more cloned metroids. or not directly use the metroids at all
