I've dug through every Daisuke interview I could find and the only mention of them I found was in January where he said Dizzy and Bridget weren't in because they couldn't fit in the story, and Venom worked well enough that Bridget wasn't needed for a niche, and that the last character selection was between Slayer and Johnny for the same niche, and Slayer got in.
Here we are, months later, Dizzy is in the story as well as Johnny, and neither have non playable character avatars.
They're coming, they're just not done, which people assume is due to balance issues as far as I can find.

Everything's canon. There's even a timeline in the game that covers everything. There are a few dropped plot threads, but it doesn't outright retcon anything.
I've done all the missions but the character specific one but 13 and 14.
13 is easy for the most part but I cannot for the life of me link that sweep to a bandit revolver at the end of the combo. I can link the two outside of the combo with no problem so is it a matter of actually delaying it a tiny bit that I haven't found yet?
As for 14, fuck me. I literally cannot mash out the DP and as far as that usually goes I've busting them out first frame I can but here I can't even find the timing accurately.

Johnny is a weird mix, and although his movelist feels "thrown together", the character functions incredibly well and satisfying.
The HS moves are the only real "poking tools" and even then there most often combo and block string fodder for MF and MF cancel and MF mixup.
He gets like max damage off 6HS CH without coins. He gets damage off any C confirm into JH combos, so really I don't know what you're talking about "he doesn't get anything". Also MF cancel from blockstrings with a HS in them make his dash perfect for a throw/dust mixup, or 5k into pressure resets... Where in both cases coin conditions respect. If they disrepect you just loose Mistfiner, or 44 dash from MF stance. It's perfectly elegant forms of pressure, and it's truly satisfying. I pity you for not knowing the majesty that is Johnny.
When you talk like that and say the character is thrown together it just tells me you don't understand how to play him, and maybe never have. I similarly think - for example - ABA is a piece of garbage, but I've seen people do some fucking work with her so I just reserve my judgment.

I actually really need to hop back on training mode to figure out if Elphelt's grenade explosions on herself have a hitbox that can hit the opponent. If so, I know you can low profile a self explosion with 2S and think it would be hilarious to frame trap with it.
You get a good bit of untech time of those grenade explosions counterhit, so hopefully I could get a dash 5S or something provided it actually works.

I remember ArcSys saying "BlazBlue is the spiritual successor to Guilty Gear" and that was all it took for me to go out and buy Calamity Trigger Limited Edition day one.
Well fuck, that was a well titled game because the calamity that got triggered is that a franchise I loved since a young teen got replaced by this fucking weebshit game called BlazBlue for about 7 years.

I love Guilty Gear. It feels fantastic to be playing another game that's clearly designed by Ishiwatari. Within minutes of playing this game it's instantly more fun and charming than BlazBlue ever was.
I can only suspect BlazBlue players are all waifu or lolifags or some shit because all I understood about BlazBlue was that it's a game for pedophiles.
Fuck BlazBlue. I never fully experienced the meaning of "buyers remorse" until I bought that game.
I have never in the past 5 years of playing video games felt more immediate joy than that first moment playing Xrd when Ky shouted "Ride the Lightning!"
Fuck it feels great having Guilty Gear back. It's even better because you can sense the shittershock setting into the BlazBlue fans as they realize no one cares about their game anymore. Can't wait for it to fucking die.
