or is there a better "best bang for your buck" sort of deal?

also, post your battlestation

Depends anon, do you value sound quality or surround more?

Pic related are amazing sound quality, easily worth way more than their price, but no surround.

Gimme your war thunder voucher goy :^)
>>
>>273152267
Sennheiser HD series is always a good bet if you're willing to drop 120-150 ameribucks on it, whatever the conversion rate is. I got a pair, comfy, good sound quality, easy foam mod to make the sound quality great.
>>
>>273153663
Sennheisers are usually a bit overpriced though, quality materials and audio is always crisp with good range, but generally you'd be overspending at each budget tier.
>>
>>273153783
Cont.
Except the lowest tier, to be fair, the HD201 offer extremely good sound quality for their price, they cost like 20 bucks and sound as good as most $80 ones I've had.
>>
>>273153663
good sound, but build quality is shit. Plasticy as fuck for the price and they break a lot.
>>
>>273153783
There are probably better price-performance ratio headphones, but I have a massive head and they're some of the only ones that actually stretch enough to fit and don't clamp down.
>>
>>273152267
ATH M50s seem like they'd be better for gaymen.
>>
>>273152267
Antlion ModMic is probably what you want. You won't have to sacrifice sound quality for a 3 dollar microphone they attach to overpriced headphones.

ATH M50's are great monitor headphones and great all around headphones as well, and they don't require an amp.
>>
>>273154056
>being this pleb

do you just buy any console too? any video game?

If you're gonna bother with headphones, you might as well drop a bit of dough on some good ones since you'll be using them a lot and cheap ones will break every month.
>>
>>273154056

good audio is like 30% of the whole experience
>>
>>273152267

I've had my ATH-M50's for almost 5 years, only thing I needed to replace really was the ear pads.

Quality set of cans. You might be able to find the non "X" version for cheaper. I got mine for $100.

>>
>>273152267
if you already have a mic, go for "incase sonic" headphones. Theyre hard to find, but sound great and are the most comfortable headphones Ive ever owned. Suede and memory foam in the pads.

i have a big head and most circumaural headphones hurt my ears over time, so comfort is a big deal for me

You obviously have never used a good pair of headphones then.

I have beyerdynamic DT990 Pro's 250ohm and their pretty good for gaming. I dont think i could go back to closed back headphones.
>>
>>273152267
ATH M50's are in my experience uncomfortable to wear for any extended period of time due to being tight, heavy, and closed. Sound quality is good though. I ended up sending them back and buying some HD 558's and I'm much more comfortable with them. your mileage may vary though.
>>
>>273154847
what amp are you using with those?
>>
Are there some decent headphones for under 100 bucks?
>>
>>273154485
What a fucking faggot. Do you not know how good the sound is on those cans? Who cares if they have a cheap pointless mic attached. For the price, you can't really get better quality, unless you want something faggy like 7.1 or whatever other gimmick makes your "serious" dick hard.
>>
>>273155159
yes
>>
>>273154964
Not using any amp at the moment, but i do want to get one. Most people seem to say that it's fine without one.
It does sound pretty weak when i use them on my laptop though, which is why i'l eventually get an amp.

Sennheiser HD 518 is a really good purchase at around $130 and is currently discounted on amazon.com if you're a murrican't to like 80.

I heard the M50 have "bad" soundstage, so it's hard to position enemies, sounds, etc. Is that true?
>>
My Sennheiser HD 555s have lasted me a long while, are there other recommendations for similar price or slightly more?

I really liked how balanced everything was overall
>>
>>273156551
Just buy the current Senns at that price point. The HD555s are out of production and outdated as well.
>>
>>273156473
I unno, they work just fine for me. I hear a sound, I turn around.
The only real first person immersive game I've used them on is STALKER though.
So usually all I hear is
AHH NUUUU CHEEKI BREEKI IV DAMKE from all directions
>>
>>273156859
So the 598s from what I've just looked up, I may go for those
>>
>>273156473
Yeah
They're closed headphones, which means that they isolate sound very well. If you're using the M50s while on the subway, for example, then a lot of the noise will be blocked out
However, soundstages require the headphones to be open, or not isolating sound, in order to actually be, you know, good
The M50's are really good for the price though
I'd recommend the Sennheiser 558s. It's a little out of the price range of the M50s, but you also get a great soundstage and the headphones are balanced better for gaming.
I'm currently using Sennheiser 598s, love em
Too bad that they don't come in a less elegant model though, the wood accents probably drive up the price by like $30
>>
>>273157492
Just be warned, the sound might be better these days, but the materials they are using, especially for the cushions are way inferior to before. Not too big of a deal, I mean they don't use materials that aren't comfortable, but you will need to adjust.
>>
>>273152473

ugly case

No cooling issues. 3 120mm fans in front. 1 140mm fan in back for exhaust. 2 additional fans on water cooler for exhaust. I use a 240mm Corsair H100i. No space issues. Still around 2CM of headroom between cooler+fans and RAM slots on a standard ATX mobo.

Yeah, I'll most likely be getting some Noctua's since I doubt the stock fans will be anything special.

I've been using these since march and they're pretty good. They sounded pretty poor out of the box, but once I broke them in they sounded fantastic, just the right amount of bass and fantastic soundstage. Plus those ear pads are comfy as fuck.
>>
>>273153504
I've had one of these since June. It's easily one of the best purchases I've made in the past few years. Don't listen to faggots who talk shit about it, it's the best headset that's out right now. You'll need an amp/DAC/amplified sound card, though.
>>
>>273159913
One more thing. The NZXT LEDs (at least at launch) were faulty. Mine got really dim. Just something unfortunate. Haven't gone to any lengths to fix it because I'm lazy. Modular PSUs can be a little bit of a hassle to install but obviously that doesn't really matter in the end. Recommend that you get your hands on a SATA cable that has a FLAT end for your SSD. If you don't have one I'm sure getting one will be no problem. It's possible to connect it with a 90 degree connector but you really gotta bend it (hard to get in but once it's in it should be fine)

Depending on the length of your EPS connector you may have to end up routing it in the front instead of the back. Maybe under the small area between the PCIe slot and the back of the case. I had this issue with an old PSU (Seasonic S12II 620).

Lastly, there is one weird square female connector in the back on the fan controller. I could never figure out what it was for, but don't stress over it. So long as you got a MOLEX connected to the fan controller it should receive power just fine and work.

Also the stock fans are just fine. No need to spend on noctuas unless you really want to go overkill. The water cooler is also fine with the included fans I'm sure. Radiators are typically louder than fans. I keep my fans at 700RPM and have them set to crank up to 1100RPM when not idle. I run SLI GTX 780's too. No heat issues. Using all stock fans.

Don't get the 598s unless you are autistic about how they look. I personally love mine, but I'll be the first to admit they're basically remodeled 558s. Their frequency response is nearly identical, but the 558s are ridiculously cheaper at 117 vs 200 on amazon right now.

I typically have company over so I went with 598s because I love how they look and so does everyone else. They're not worth the price alone.

I rarely see them posted, so I'll mention the urbanears plattans and zinkens. The plattans are wonderfully light with excellently accurate sound reproduction, and the zinkens have the DJ-style swivel cups and a flippable cable for hooking up to either standard size headphone connector, with thumpy bass that doesn't overpower the mids and highs.

For a budget rig I stuck it on the side of a pair of koss portapros, they give a great sense of space and being open backed they don't muffle the sound of your own voice, which I find really disconcerting otherwise.
