It seems that you're pretty much fucked if your partner dies when you're Rodin and you're fighting one of the faster enemies/bosses. He's so slow to move, especially when his shield kills your momentum entirely.

Taunted enemies give more Halos but can also tear you a couple new assholes if you get hit by them. If you're not super confident in your dodging abilities, use the Midas things (makes enemies give Halos just for hitting them) and Reward Hammer (gives bonus Halos for killing with Torture Attacks) instead.

They're strong, but they felt like EZ Mode to me, they don't even have any combos that require a pause, you can pretty much just mash punch & kick and get stupid damage. If you release the held attack with proper timing (when the chainsaws turn completely red) you get an extra swing for bonus damage, but you don't really need it.
I use them from time to time if only for how awesome using chainsaws as rollerblades is. Odette, eat your heart out.
