Probably not. This is Sony's last handheld and they aimed for a console experience portable, but obviously it failed. We still have great games but it just wasn't a hit. If all we had was clicking sticks and another pair of triggers we could have a true portable PS2(.5) in our pockets.
As it is now, we'll have to wait 30 years for Nintendo to make a handheld thats about as strong as a vita.

I'm actually surprised that they didn't do this. The Vita is capable of some serious power but most modern games will be limited by these four missing buttons. Especially shooters that utilize four shoulder and clicking sticks.

They probably ran into engineering and width troubles with clicking sticks (they'd have to sink into the system even deeper) so they said fuck it, added a touchpad in the back, and hoped it could be wisely used. It works great in Tearaway and MGS HD (for the most part)
