I've been looking at some Budokai 1 sotry mode vids and it reminded me why I liked this game so much as a kid. They made so many assets just to recreat the anime faithfully in 3D. They did not have to do all that shit but they did.
It's funny how the story modes in the late games don't have nearly as much work put into them, but I guess they were constrained buy dev time.
