The hand holding was obnoxious, the story was cliche as all fuck, the combat was painfully simple and boring, the enemies were all generic and rarely had any interesting attacks, getting new move felt worthless on the hardest difficulty and the titan fights were shit. The visuals were pretty amazing and the game always switched up the scenery but none of it felt like a Castlevania game.

I've been offended by how bad/short a few of them were, sure. Sometimes it pisses me off when things don't make sense, or control is taken from me. For example, the end of MGS2. You learned that there's a shadowy organization that rules the US if not the world that is so powerful that it was able to create an entire scenario in your mind, and that the man you were taught was a villain was in fact attempting to free people from them (albeit by dubious means).
