The company identities in Wipeout and how they dictated the appearance of the vehicles in the game is one of the things that really made it specialI loved Assegai so much in HD/Fury, it looked and felt so agile
Aside from that though, I'm pretty excited to hear that this is a thing to begin with. It might not be Wipeout but its something close at least, and with some of the old guys in it. I thought Wipeout was completely ded after Studio Liverpool was merged with Guerrilla Games.

Wipeout was always unique in its approach to speed, the gap between accelaration and top speed was ridiculously big. The idea was to gain momentum by using speed pads and items available over maybe the first lap, then when you finally hit the top speed its about defending that momentum from other racers trying to take you down with items.
I often found myself getting to the point, after a couple of hours playing, where everything I did felt so subconscious because I was managing to play a race to almost perfection, without losing speed once. Not sure if that was a very good explanation but I guess what I'm trying to say is that Wipeout can be a little slow sometimes, but often its very, very fast.
The trailer looks super wooden, but we'll see how it developers.
