Let's try this again.

There was actually some stuff from the night before that I never got an answer to. For those that bought the art books, what's the Astro-Boy inspired manga like? No one ever talks about it. Anything interesting about it? Anything you were able to translate from it?

Also, did anyone else think of PMMM when Elh asked Red to form a contract with her?
>>
>>266154585
It was an amazing game, but it was too easy and the art style can put off a lot of people
>>
>>266154585
Oh, and what do we know about the 7 Data Children outside of Red, Nero, and Blanck?

>>266155191
Certainly. Supposedly the next game will be aimed at an older audience, so hopefully that means it won't be so easy next time around.

The art style is probably the reason many people ignored it besides its weird name of course.
Which is odd to think about, since of all games it holds the record for having the most commercials for it.
>>
>>266155404
>the next game
There will be seriously a next one?
>>
>>266155519
CC2 will keep pushing for another chance to make a LTB game, but it will probably be a while
>>
>>266155519
Yep. CC2 has said as much.
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-11-05-new-solatorobo-game-in-the-works-at-cyberconnect2
http://www.siliconera.com/2010/07/08/cyberconnect2-unveil-strelka-stories/

They're going so far as to making Strelka Stories despite not getting any funding for it from any major publisher. Its their own personal love work. And while the next game might not even be Strelka Stories, nonetheless they did say they were working on something in this series. Repeatedly, in fact.

Supposedly though Strelka Stories is being aimed at an older audience, and that fans of shows like Evangelion and Gurren Lagann are sure to like it.
>>
>>266154585
What is this game about?
The art looks so cute.
>>
>>266155404
While I bet the art style was a factor, coming out towards the very end of the lifecycle of the DS certainly couldn't have helped.
>>
>>266156084
Its about this dog person (called Caninu in game) mecha pilot named Red Savarin who works as a Hunter, which is sort of a person who does odd jobs for people. One job required him to go onto an airship called The Hindenburg and "borrow" some documents for a client, and during this he uncovers a strange medallion that glows when he touches it and attracts monsters to the ship. The ship gets badly damaged during all of this and Red manages to escape, but not before rescuing a mysterious cat girl (called Felineko in game) named Elh Melizee on his way out. After his escape Elh tells him that the world is dangerous and that the medallion chose him, and she asks him to help her perform some ritual called the Rite of Forfeit in order to stop a great gigantic beast from causing ruin to the world. Red agrees and they go off on their adventure.
And as it goes on it gets a whole lot more complicated and crazy.
>>
>>266156595
I always forget that the 3DS was out by that point in time. Man they had bad luck with that game.
>>
And added to it, is there anything we know about Gren and Calua outside of what the game itself tells us? It's so lacking in info regarding them.

Too bad Steam removed the furry tag.
Why Unity though?

I get wanting it on Steam and all that, but the way the game was made it might be difficult to do all that for. Why not just put it on 3DS eshop or Wii U eshop?

>>266159190
It lets you customize your mecha in a similar way to Megaman Legends. Walking around dungeons and cities and such is also vaguely similar.

Oh, and before I forget.

>For those that bought the art books, what's the Astro-Boy inspired manga like?

It's, well, a manga. It's just a one-off kind of thing based off that character you see a poster of in the orphanage. I imagine it's kind of like a meta thing that would exist in the universe. Other than that it has nothing to do with Solatorobo or Tail Concerto. It'd be like if they made a Silver Samurai manga for Phoenix Wright.

I don't know moon so I have no idea what they're saying.

>Was it just a few pages or something?

>>
>>266172157
>The devs just love it or something
Yes.
It doesn't make them very much money. Its not popular. Multiple attempts at pushing it have failed. And yet they keep going. They work on projects without publisher funding for it. They release artbooks for the small dedicated groups of fans and even sometimes translate parts into English for people. They made a Kemono Fanpage Facebook page for anything kemono they put out. They begged Bandai for funding for Solatorobo, even when repeatedly shot down.

They LOVE LTB.
>>
>>266172157
This game was pretty much their pet project, their dream game. They spent a huge amount of time and effort on it.
>>
>>266172451
Also those books they've published regarding the kemono fandom. Maybe they should do a special entry where they hire some veteran jap artists who're interested at doing some artworks showing their own interpretations.
>>
>>266172451
Kind of a tragedy to have it just be an easy DS game.

>>266172454
They spent a long ass time on it from what ive read. I feel kinda bad for them...I didn't buy it either, my greatest regret
>>
>>266173163
I think they actually did that already. A lot of the artwork in the Kemono books are from random Japanese artists outside of CC2, and some of that artwork is of Solatorobo stuff. Sort of like the 8 Solatorobo fanbooks. They've also even asked (and are currently asking for) artists to make kemono art for them to put in a special section of their book.
>>
>>266173381
I wonder if their close connection with Bandai prevents them from doing that or something. Making a Kickstarter I mean.
>>
>>266172451
is there a chance for their next furry people video game to be released on pc?
>>
>>266174007
I wouldn't say its impossible, especially since XSeed looks into doing that when going to developers, although this is a Japanese company we're talking about here. Japan has never been big on the PC.
>>
>>266173910
Strelka Stories is self-funded and completely seperate from Namco Bandai -- Matsuyama stated that he wants this game to be completely free of any publisher so they can do what they truly wish to do with the game. The only thing preventing its development is lack of funds, being a small developer.

Kickstarter disallows anybody from Japan starting a project and CC2 does not have an American division (Mighty No. 9 is not an exception; Comcept has a US division which may very well have been made simply so they could use it as a loophole)

Not that a PC version will ever, ever get made, but no. All of the backgrounds were massively downscaled to be put on the DS and judging by the fact that all of the backgrounds are present in the artbooks, it can be safely assumed that CC2 has the master files in their archives. Backgrounds would probably be the easiest thing to fix.

Again, wishful thinking, but still.

Oh, never heard this before. If it's a new IP similar in vein to LTB(which it probably isn't but hey, a guy can dream) they could get a new artist on board to do character designs just like Nob did for that series.

Preferably I would probably choose Yas(since he's capable of designing characters like that as pic related shows) but hey, more power to them.
>>
>>266177278
I honestly always thought that those were two different images rather than one just being a heavily compressed version of the other. I mean I know the one on the right WAS changed but I always figured that the thing on the left was just the drawn image for what it would look like and the right is what was actually designed to be in the game. I had no idea it was just compressed.
>>
>>266177247
With my current health habits I ain't living past 40 anyway.
>>
Now here's a question

Would you have still played this game if it weren't furry?
>>
>>266174437
>Kickstarter disallows anybody from Japan starting a project
>>
>>266178602
I want to say yes.
But that's really only if I had known it was so good. I bought it on a whim after being linked its opening cutscenes on a furry website. I thought it looked kind of cool and decided to go for it, despite my fears about the gameplay.

If it weren't furry, I likely never would've bat an eye at it. And that makes me sad anon.

>>266178351
Fix that.
You want to be here when it happens someday
>>
>>266178784
>fix that

That means doing something other than jerking off and posting on 4chan

And like I said last thread, that ain't happening.
>>
>>266178602
Why is this question asked in every game related to furries?
And yes, I would still buy it, because I'm genuinely obsessed with Inumaru's artstyle.
>>
>>266177164
motherfucker!

>>266177278
Oh of course, huh. Damnit this couldnt be a difficult port to do! I mean even if it was unoptimized our pc have the raw muscle to take care of it!

>>266178602
Well it was certainly a draw for me. However I do love the mechs, and the "floating islands and airships" theme is one of my favorites.
Id say I would have considered it, but I wouldnt have fallen in love with it if it werent for the adorable character designs.

>>266179014
Oh hey, did you end up trying the game out? Whatd ya think?
>>
>>266179014
Because, I know I wouldn't have batted an eye at this game if it just had a regular anime art style, and I wanted to know if others felt the same way.
>>
>>266178602
>implying I'm a furry
I'm here because I like CC2 and want them to succeed
>>
>>266178602
Assuming it didnt have ugly characters otherwise, I would.
The cuteness/coolness of the characters I really like, and if they were just anime humans that looked as nice I would have liked it too!
>>
Whats this even play like? The art style is so atrocious and obviously made for yiffers that it completely turns me off to the game, no matter how good it may be. Furry art seriously is horrible.

I'm going to guess its a SRPG or some type of RPG?
>>
>>266179556
Nigga if you so turned off why bother posting about it?
>>
>>266179556
Action rpg, simple gameplay based on lifting/throwing with your robot.
I think this wont be the game for you if you explicitly dislike the art style. Best move on pal!
>>
>>266179663
I'm just curious to see what it plays like or if its a clone of anything but with a shit art style.

>>266179756
This anon gets it, thanks. Not all people who hate something are shitposters. I'll be exiting the thread now.

Its an ARPG where the combat involves lifting enemies and objects up and throwing them or catching and throwing projectiles. Its really simple. A lot of the game is just dialogue between characters or traveling and seeing the world while pretty music plays and you perform sidequests.

Also:
>character designs done by same guy who did Escaflowne
>>
>>266179349
Hey man, it was a serious question.

Game aint popular, and I was wondering how many people found it cause it's furry, or interest in gameplay, or brand name

I discovered it after seeing threads about it here a year or so ago, yeah the art was a draw for me certainly. But the robots, world design etc also played a huge part.

Because he's fucked in the head and hides the fact behind a mask of tolerance and political correctness.

Also because he has readers, and is probably a closet furry.
>>
>>266179556
>>266179898
You grab enemies, and then throw them at other enemies. Or just bounce them on the ground till' they are dead.

You can also pick up some items the enemies drop (such as guns and bombs) to attack them, and there are some missions where you can/have to use a mounted machine gun.
You also unlock some special moves later in the game.

The gameplay is somewhat dull, and since you already said a bunch of times that you think the art style is shit, you should just move on to another game, since the best part of this game are the characters/story/art.

>I'm just curious to see what it plays like or if its a clone of anything
It plays mostly like tail concerto. Solatorobo is tail concerto's spiritual successor afterall.
>>
>>266179914
The humans in this had pretty cool designs too, I thought. Didnt know it was the guy who did escaflowne though!
And yes I agree, its a easygoing kinda game for me.

>>
>>266179098
I like it, the lore is absolutely delicious. Gameplay is kinda bland outside of boss fights.
>>
>>266180472
Damn If only they would have made the combat deeper.
I heard that they playtested it woth younger demographic. Kinda surprising given the looks of some of the characters!
>>
>>266180383
That isn't a real part in it is it? Surely that writing was edited.

>>266181009
Not really. That would mean that there are many differences in censorship practices and quality. Its much smaller and there are just some common stylistic differences.

>>266180631
I liked those with the exception of Red himself, which I thought looked ugly.

Admittedly, I'm not a fan of the mecha designs either, save for maybe Nero, Blanck's, and furry Vincent Valentine.
>>
>>266181812
>Surely that writing was edited.

I wouldn't be surprised if it weren't, the dude has some wacky stuff in his comic.
>>
>>266181812
About the cartoon/anime comparison I made, I didnt mean like the entire industry/ fandom thing. Purely from looks and design sensibility I meant.
