Have you seen Darkshire and Elwynn in the 6.0.2 PTR? Darkshire is dark again and there's hugely noticeable difference between daytime Elwynn and nighttime Elwynn.
I loved the atmosphere of Tirisfal Glades pre-Cata (I think they changed it up when Cata was released). It felt like some real evil, spooky shit. And the ambiance had this feeling of hopelessness and you embraced it since you were Undead.
And Brill was the best. Like a safe haven and shit.

If I had to live in any WoW capital it would probably be Darnassus. Comfiest to me, as much as I hate outdoors it might be the only place I would like to lay down on the grass and fall asleep with the massive trees above me.
I also really like how Mulgore looks but I imagine in real life would be very sunny.
Weirdly, but it was my first. Getting there made me realise just how big WoW was. And it WAS pretty comfy.

But my major issue with Darkshire is how they changed streamlined some of the quests. Many of them didn't need to be changed at all.
For example, remember the Legend of Stalvan quest? Perhaps one of the best quests from vanilla was replaced in Cataclysm, and now the person in his hut is Stalvan's brother or cousin or something. And they changed Stitches to phased, so mutliple people can't encounter them on the road randomly. Utterly pointless change which takes the fun out of the game.

I fucking love that area up north with the broken windmills. Tirisfal Galdes really was on the most atmospheric areas.
Anyone else feel that Desolace was strangely comfortable? I remember just running around everywhere with ghost wolf in my shaman and just taking it all in. The kodo graveyard, the naga area, the demon cave, the centaurs, Rexxar punting any alliance near him 30 yards away, the troll town on the sea. Just had that extra bit of magic.
I actually remember grinding the naga and demon areas because I really liked it.
Oh, and the first time stepping into Ashenvale and hearing that music was magical. Didn't really like the pathways, but I'd just sit at the entrance listening to that.

Which is the biggest drawback of WoW IMHO. They went from a MMORPG where griding and getting to max level, and finding really good items actually meant something. Grinding a mount or faction rep actually was hard and meant something.
Now it's basically auto-leveling and coasting through the game as fast as possible. This completely kills the atmosphere of a world. It's more like a single player game now until the last few levels. And then it's still just meh, who cares.
