The sequel was boring. Way too long, horrible pacing, repeats patterns way too much, and in general too easy. You accomplish as much in the entire 3 hours of the second game as you do in the first ten minutes of S&P.

It feels like one giant tutorial. You are still receiving tutorials 40 missions into the game. The weak enemies blocking each other is what makes them easy to beat, if you rush into the room, you get fucked, if you let them block each other you can easily win. Also the gargoyles, who fight on pretty open ground, aren't nearly as bad as the maneaters, who fight on narrow ledges you can get knocked off of.

The World Ends With You is probably one of the most innovative JRPGs I've played. Unique battle system that took advantage of the input methods and dual screens on the DS, interesting aesthetic and setting, good difficulty system and post game content. Generally a really cohesive and well thought out game.

The difference is that collossi are big stagefights and not bossfights. How is any game different? In elder scrolls you solve the quest and end up stabbing the final boss/enemy. In shotters is the same except you switch stabbing for shooting and so it goes on.
