This game and the original were WAY fucking better than 999 or VLR. If Spike Chunsoft chooses to make DR3 rather than a new 999 game, it'll be worth it.
>>262157891
They already made the choice to.
DR is a lot more popular and 3 has already been teased unlike the 999/VLR guy making statements saying he wished he could make 3.
I agree.Seriously, Danganronpa's gameplay is one of the freshest things to come out in the 7th console gen. I haven't seen a gameplay like that before, so simple yet it has depth.
Agreed. One of my favorite game series of this gen.
The atmosphere is fresh, the characters are interesting, the plot is great and the mysteries and gameplay are entertaining.
I prefer this one to the first one, though.
The whole "hope and despair" shit just sounds way too cheesy for me, I can't really get behind it. Other than that, it's pretty good.

What? Are you talking about the mechanics in the trials? They're "creative" sure, but they're still annoying as fuck and (rightfully) hated by most people who played the games.
The story and characters are fantastic though. It's easily one of the best games of it's kind.
>>262159429
Not the guy you replied to, but what did you find annoying about the trial mechanics? I thought they worked well and they really set the game's atmosphere.
>>262157891
I found them both to be great series of games to be honest.
VLR = SDR2 > 999 > DR1

The only one that gets hate is logical dive.
Whose your favorite character /v/? Pic related. I like what I've seen/heard of Gundham and Komaeda as well, though I've only seen up to trial 1. so far, they have potential to top Taka
Danganronpa have great individual murder mysteries, but the greater plot (ESPECIALLY in 2) is super clumsy compared to VLR's subtle reveals of a greater story. In fact, VLR and 1 have a similar plot but VLR does it way better. It's also more of a game than the Danganronpas.

Gundham a next best.

I prefer the first Danganronpa over 2 because the school is a vastly superior location, the story reveals are way better, the characters are more memorable, and the plot isn't forcibly revealed wholesale in the last 5% of the game. I like the gameplay in 2 better though.

So, as a poor guy living in a 3rd world country.
I couldn't get my hands in Trigger Happy Havoc, and I don't think I will, since no one will import it now.
The usual retailer bought 2 copies of DR2, will I enjoy it if I didn't play the first one?
I ask before tomorrow because those two copies will be already sold by then, and I'm not sure if I should get it.
>>262162967
>if I talk in a condescending tone without any rebuttal, it will prove I'm right automatically!
Danganronpa 1 does a better job of spacing out reveals and twists throughout the whole game, and the twists are way better than "it's all acomputer simulationlol."
And yeah, Monomi and Fuyu are the 2nd and 3rd best characters behind Monokuma, but I barely remember 25% of the DGRP2 cast and I just played it last week.

What I'm saying here is you should try to get your hands on it at all costs.
>>262162509
I find them both rather annoying.
Nagito a little more so as he's just there constantly. He has an annoying habit of suddenly taking the focus off the trial for about a minute of dialogue to talk about himself being useless. It wouldn't be so bad if he did it just the once but he just keeps doing it and doing it and doing it. Junko at least only shows up at the end for half a trial.

They just drop hints between each case without really saying anything at all. The entire chapter 6 is an infodump for this reason.

SDR2 had DR1 big twist revelead in the very first chapter of the game, while also foreshadowing his own twists after that. How do you think the first one has better ones is beyond me.
>Monomi

I thought Nagito carried SDR2 by himself though. The game wouldn't have been as good as it was without him.
>>262164427

>>262165128
Charicters*
>>262165128
There's substantially more free time in DR2. I feel like they did a better job with developing the characters, but sometimes it suffered a bit with it as well.

I'm going to list you now every clue that hints to the Masterminds identity:
1. Before the first murder even happenssomeone points out Junko's freckles. She passes it off as Photoshop and everybody accepts that.
2. In the first trialSomeone points out the 16th seat. Monokuma dismisses this as just a spare in case they ever had 16 students like they do in the second game
3. After the fourth trialKirigiri learns of the 16th students name. This is actually just a red herring to make us think that Mukuro is the mastermind
4. The fifth murderShows Junko's fingernails on Mukuro's hand. This is the only real clue in the entire game.
5. The final trialEverybodys photos have Junko's face covered up so that they wouldn't notice the slight difference in the same-face as mentioned in Point 1
Let's be real. The build up was kind of bullshit,

SDR2 > 999 > DR1 > VLR, as someone who's played all of them.
DR1 is too heavily flawed to be considered better than 999, which had near-flawless execution besides the inability to skip things (which was added in VLR, but VLR was even more flawed than that); DR1 was a bit too easy and predictable story-wise if you've ever picked up a mystery novel in your life.
999 has 10/10 execution but not a great concept, especially considering it uses a lot of plot points and twists from earlier works the author already wrote. VLR does the same thing, but the execution is actually worse. Meanwhile, SDR2 is pretty much a 10/10 execution-wise, but whether or not you enjoy it depends on if you liked the first game.
I could just be more harsh about 999/VLR than most, considering I read the Infinity series first. Oh wellGhost Trick > All anyway

>>262171435
999's execution is superb until the true ending where all its reveals go to nothing. Ghost Trick's finale was a masterwork of foreshadowing and rule-following. 999 just blows everything out with sudoku magics and a villain so cartoonish and abruptly stupid that it makes Togami's bullshit and Kirigirl's stupid tantrum reasonable.
>>262171573
I fucking love Akiba's Trip but I have that on PS3 and don't need a Vita for it.
The only games I'm looking at are Ys, Soul Sac, and Gravity Rush. Is Soul Sacrifice good if I think MonHun is a shit awful series that squanders its potential of great boss fights with so much tedium?
>>262171857
Yeah, how does PS TV work? What games can it play?
I just beat it and I know it was way better than DR1, but I did enjoy VLR much more.
It's probably just me, but I do wish they kept the trials as simple as the first game though.

I think it works with all Vita games that don't rely on touchscreen/rear touch that much. I'm sure Sony will release a list of games that will support it around it's launch. They did that in Japan at least. Also, in Japan, Danganronpa 1-2 Reload works on the Vita TV so it only makes sense the games will work here too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2rZ-emc5OM

At the very least VLR added the flowgraph, which is what 999 really fucking needed. Playing it blind can be a nightmare as you can quickly end up in a scenario of having to skip like 3 hours of content before you get to some new stuff just because you took the wrong door last time.

well if you're properly equipped then most SS bosses last between 5-10 minutes, though if you're improperly equipped you get shit like pic related. Grinding isn't as bad as MH since even the rarest boss LE/SE drops have a decent chance if you use a rumor (boosts their drop chance). Though Warlock/Witch Soul Energy/Life Energy +++ are bullshit to get (though justified since they're for buffing the strongest spells in the game). There is repetition since you need to fight multiple monsters at different level ranges but here's a list of how many bosses there are (check both links since they're divided between vanilla and new monsters)

Too bad that room spoonfed you the answers and allowed you to skip it.
>>262178731
Hinata is hotter
>>262178957
>mfw I skipped it
I tried it for awhile, but it was 3 in the morning and I wasn't having that bullshit
>>262178683
Both DR1 and SDR2 do that, trying to poke fun and reference other game/anime troupes, (like fitting in those fan service easter eggs and have Hinata or Naegi respond to it in a OCC way) while also playing it kinda straightforward too.
I want to say that's the irony of the game, but do you think that's giving the writers too much credit?
>>262178903
> implying the dub is even bad
Boo hoo, they changed SHSL to Ultimate. Get over it already.
>>262177795
Why is mikan such a qt?
>>262178957
The fucking red light puzzle made no sense. The lights didn't pertain to anything on the goddamn lappy chart
>>262179214
but
m-muh genocider shou
>>262158380
Damn it's surprising that everyone is talking about how Junko is batshit insane and don't talk about Komaeda.I mean that nigga didn't even hesitate to play russian roulette, and that first case, and that fucking suicide bruh how can you be so confident in your luck.
I just started chapter 6 and holy fuck this game is going right where I wanted it to go.
Should I read DR/0 after I beat DR2?
>>262179214
I don't en care about SHSL/Ultimate, i'm talking about the voice acting.
>>262179416gitgud
>>262179214
Or maybe he was talking about the voices
>>262179416
>2014
>Not believing in luck
I seriously HOPE
>>262178957
>Too bad that room spoonfed you the answers and allowed you to skip it.
Well I'd imagine it did that to, as you said, test the waters. I mean they weren't gonna just force people unfamiliar with the thing to do it and I'm sure if there's puzzles in DR3 it'll be the same deal. They want to introduce new things to the series but they don't want to alienate those who don't like that kind of stuff so they give them the option to skip it. Maybe in DR3 they could have puzzles like that and while you can skip them, you miss out on Skills and trophies and maybe finding a few presents or Monocoins.
Is it me, or is DR2 incredibly taxing on the Vita?
I have a feeling it's because of NISA, but I've had times where it lagged when walking up to Jabberwock Park.
Another time is when I went to the Web Browser to look up an FAQ forChapter 2's trial.. It loaded half the page, then said I needed to close DR2 in order to fully load it.
>>262179354
Yeah that was odd.
Also, and I might be retarded, but I had no idea how to get that safe open the first time. The "Watch the NEWS" clue I thought I understood, but every combination of the numbers in the room that I used didn't work. Then I watched a walkthrough of it and one of the numbers in the password wasn't even anywhere in the room?
>>262179416
Junko was just batshit for the sake of being batshit though.
At least Komaeda had reason to act the way he did, he was plauge by Good/Bad Luck cycles and basically had a death wish. He believed in hope THAT MUCH, that something as terrible as killing himself could only bring something good from it. He planned from Case 1 to die for the sake of the others.
>>262179187
Well, they did a better job in the last case of DR1 than 2.
I mean, Hinata going super saiyan, Nanami acting all mighty and being all spirit-like, the weird shit going on where you talk to everyone except Komaeda, Giant Junko, etc etc
it was too much, at least the references in DR1 didn't interrupt the case at hand too much
>>262161719
Sonia Nevermind best female
Gundham best maleI was very pleased when she survived the murders, pitty about Gundham being the murderer of the four case
>>262179398
It's honestly one that kind of makes sense. Syo/Shou was a reference to what is basically Japans answer to Jack the Ripper, and Genocider [insert name of preference here] is just a media given nickname not her actual name.
It's certainly not a change I would lose sleep over.
>>262179147
>>262179354
I could not figure out what to do with the red lights at the end.
>>262179584
I hope they do that. I need more puzzles, since ZE3 is never going to happen.Quit posting my waifu
>>262179807
Number 5 was in the closet. The 6 was actually a 9 because it had a line over it designating which way to read it.
>>262179912
>Gundham
Why.
>>262179807
The problem is that you have no idea where North is unless you look at the floor. I didn't notice the compass rose until later in the section
>>262179967
>>262179525
The games have dual audio, so I don't even see why this should be an issue for anyone. Don't like the English VAs, just switch to the Japanese ones.
That and the voices for DR2 are much better than the first games batch. Even the returning VAs do a better job than they did on their first go around.
>>262180027
>The 6 was actually a 9 because it had a line over it designating which way to read it
Well now I feel stupid since that puzzle made me just skip the whole room
>>262179416
TheRussian Roulettepart was great. Everyone's reaction to himplaying it wrongwas hilarious.
>>262180027
Ah, can't believe I didn't notice the 5. I guess I really am retarded.
>>262180076
Right, but what confused me was when they were talking about it being a compass Nagito was like "It sort of looks like something else..."
What the fuck ever
>>262180191
Dude Nagito will literally tell you puzzle solutions if you talk to Monomi enough
>>262180191
>He didn't know it was a 9
Come on, man
>>262179805
>Is it me, or is DR2 incredibly taxing on the Vita?
Well I'd fucking hope not. It's supposed to be a PSP game. I would blame it on NISA. The framerate in Disgaea 4 Vita lagged at times as well and we all know what Disgaea D2 on PS3 was like. For some reason when they translate stuff they have a habit of messing something up some how. You could argue it's not really their fault since their job is just to translate but the point remains they seem to fuck up whatever they touch.
>>262180191
you know what, I can understand that. You only see that on cards and nobody really uses them anymore, it's not surprising that people would miss that notation.
>>262179584
Just do what they do with the difficulties and how things like the White Noise don't appear. If you play the game on the easiest difficulty, you have the option to skip the rooms.
>>262180027
What? Back in my day a line over a number meant repeating.
>>262180328
Monomi said it looked like a number when Nagito mentioned it looked like something else, though.
>>262180457
Only if there's a decimal point.
>>262177373
Fuck Case 3 in Dangan Ronpa 2, that case was the Turnabout Big Top of the series.
>>262180457
No, the line normally goes underneath the number. It appears above because the 9 was upside down.
>>262180051
based NISA :^))))
>>262180153
Slut
>>262180657
You're just upset because best girl killed worst girl.
>>262180657
>>262177865
>Hating Case 3
Really? What the fuck is wrong with you people?
>>262180756
For every thing NISA does to make me like them they do two things to make me hate them.
>>262180558
Yeah, but what number? The only numbers in the password were the ones on the walls. That whole compass thing was like a red herring or something
>>262180990
They're angry because "muh Ibuki"
>>262180051
Probably due to copyrights in the West.
>>262180051
Because I don't want to get sued by Sunrise and Bandai
>>262180657
More like the turnabout Serenade of the series
>>262180990
It had shit everything, from case, to murder method, to culprit, to motive, to incentive, to climax, to execution, fucking everything.
That chapter didn't allow you for free time events as well, too, they fucking erased Nidai off from existence, killedIbuki, Saionji and Tsumikiall at once
It was just too much
>>262181161
So it's okay for them to use the name in Japan though?
>>262181057
No, the thing is that it points North. Nagito will bring up that Watch the NEWS pertains to which walls to do in what order and there is one number on each wall.
>>262180990
It was great but fell apart in the end
>Mikan is the killer lol
>wait... how?
>disease or some shit
>she nuts lol
>And then she killed ibuku
>b.but.... why?
>becuz lol
>Also she killed loli bitch because she was in the way
>her reason was love or some shit
>then she flied to space the end
What the fuck
>>262180990
I don't hate case 3, but the murderer was extremely obvious and the execution scene was shit. The motive itself had no direct relation to the character that we knew from prologue up to chapter 3,but was a glimpse/foreshadow of their actual personalities.. That last part is why I dislike it, the motive for murder wasn't attached to the character that I grew to like.
>>262180990
I had figured out everything in Case 3 by the time the trial was just beginning.
>>262171338
>her theme song is shit
IMFUCKINGPLYING
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9R5mpVVuQ8
>you'll never smell them
>>262180990
>>262181057
I hated the case because the killer was so obvious that literally every sign was pointing to her.
>>262181294
It's Japan! They don't even have an alphabet! It's just a bunch of random symbols and shit!
>>262181337
Eh, I guess it doesn't matter. I understood it anyway without looking at the compass, I just didn't see the 5 so I couldn't figure out what the other number was.
>>262181365
>the motive for murder wasn't attached to the character that I grew to like.
Well, doesn't that make sense though? By the time she remembers everything about being SHSL Despair, she's not really the same character anyway from the beginning of the same. She doesn't really need a "motive" cause she DID IT FOR THE DESPAIR.
>>262180990
The disease was a stupid idea and made Mikan murder someone even though she would never do that.
>>262181294
Different copyright laws and junk. Don't question it, just accept that lawyers can be petty dickheads.
999 and VLR explore complex themes and scenarios with great characters, lots of intrigue and fun gameplay
DR is just lame highschool shit
>>262181765
>even though she would never do that.
Technically everyone would murder if they were their true selves, did you finish the game?
The disease made Mikan go back to what she was, a lesbo crazy slut
>>262181765
>even though she would never do that.
We don't know anything about any of the cast with how the acted under Junko's orders. How do you know she would never do that? They did some really fucked up shit before the Future Foundation found them and sent them to the island.
>>262181731
That's why I said why I didn't like it. It made sense in terms of the story, but I wanted there to be at least some other reason besides that. And like what the many others are saying here, it doesn't help on top of that fact that it was extremely obvious that she did it.She's still good for killing ibuki.
MY IBUKI COULD NOT HAVE
>>262181371
Fucking Nanami, man, she acted just like Kirigiri in that case and ruined it entirely by spoonfeeding you the whole answer to the murder
That was not funny in DR and seeing it again in SDR2 just made it more infuriating
>>262181412
I got a boner just from reading that. Source?
>>262181765
I can confirm this. Mikan is the only person who didn't murder in her despair time. She only spent her time doing transplants and sexing it up with Izuru
>>262181926
>I didn't play more than 5 minutes of the game.
>>262180990
Maybe people found the case easy to figure it out. I found it way more enjoyable than Case 2 at least.
>>262181969
>>262181986
Not their "lOL DISPAIRRRR XD" selves, their true selves
They just singlehandedly ruined her entire character in chapter 3 by turning her into a lesbo, confirming her to be an attention whore and doing fanservice on purpose in that same chapter, dispair, making her even weirder, etc etc.
>>262182256
>SHSL HOPE HINATA
>shit tier
Just get out, get out
>>262182154
>muh despair
>>262182502
Go away akane, you're a stupid bitch that couldn't solve a simple sudoku.
> Hangman's Gambit
> Supposedly (Improved)
> Is far worse now
It's the only part of trials where I end up taking damage due to having to wait for a minute for a single letter and getting the screen flooded with crap.
>>262182256
That pink blood just looks so silly
>>262182438
I never understood why they gave her lewd tripping over scenes. They pretty much ruined her by making her impure.
What was your favorite Free Time in DR2?
>>262182438
>confirming her to be an attention whore
That was obvious from the second time she tripped into some obnoxious pose she was an attention whore.
>ruined her entire character in chapter 3 by turning her into a lesbo
Why is that a bad thing?
You're just retarded with shit taste.
>>262182796
I don't get why japs hate seeing blood as red so much. If it's any other color, it's suddenly fine.
>>262182034
It's in the game. After you finish School Mode with a character in DR1 on Vita you get their underwear.
>>262182771
Hangman's Gambit is pretty shit no matter what though. Because ultimately it still revolves around figuring out the exact wording used for an answer. IMO Logic Dive is way better
>>262182817
As I said, she did all of that shit on purpose.
That was revealed in, guess again, chapter 3, and was referenced in the execution
>>262182895
They made her lesbian just because loljunko manipu- gave attention to her, nothing else. She would have been straight otherwise.
>>262157891
Not even freaking close. 999's atmosphere was a lot better, Danganronpa blew it by making every character have either some silly personality trait or a ridiculous appearance. Also, the part about people rioting and all that despair stuff is pretty much unbelievable, even in its own universe.
Still loved both of them though, mostly because it still had a good mystery/dark atmosphere to it, no matter how much they kept breaking it.
>>262182984
I think it was because their high school students maybe? Or maybe they wanted to keep the game rating low enough so more people could play it there?
I have no fucking idea what these games about but designs aside, the art is fucking disgusting.
>>262183131
>They made her lesbian just because loljunko manipu- gave attention to her, nothing else.
Again, why is this a BAD thing?
>>262182845
>That pic
