Not too bright, are you

Your monitor would explode from the sheer number of FPS.

Well if they were 290xs like I have..Not alot because the thing would blackscreen every time you run a game.

All those video cards do not communicate with each other directly.

The cpu and ethernet handles communication. You see all those cables? That's the only reason why each rack of gpus know that there are other cards nearby.

You would need literally 75 monitors to get anything out of it.

>solar panels

The cheapest 300 watt (the average load of a mid range gaming desktop) solar panel I've been able to find is about $250, the set up pictured is using closer to 10,000 watts, which would run you about $8000. Keep in mind, this set up only work in the daylight, when the sky is clear, and the sun isn't at a particularly acute angle to the panels.
>>
>>261470845
>2/10

I think you mean 1/5. Reduce your fucking fractions, man.
>>
>>261471127

I power my whole house on solar and sell the excess.

Trust me, it's worth it.

>>
>>261471127
I don't know if that's 100% accurate. Back in January I helped install about $3000 worth of solar panels onto my family's two story, four bedroom house, and it reduced our monthly electric bill by a shit-ton. And we don't live in a particularly sunny area, either.
>>
>>261470845
so you are telling me, that a $8000-10000 solar panel investment is worth it when you be mining $200 a month. Okay.
>>
>>261471661
>by a shit-ton
Real scientific measurements you've got there.

I highly doubt their house is also running 10,000 watts of gpu.

You're telling me that these fucking panels sucking up solar energy all fucking day have no way of storing excess energy to use at night?

What you're using the energy for doesn't really matter. No matter how you break it down, you're either paying monthly for your kWh or generating it from an initial investment.

The fact that you're using it to generate bitcoins doesn't mean anything special, it's all opportunity cost. Just using it to power an average home means a significant savings/profit on a monthly electric bill, that extra money can go to whatever you want.
>>
>>261472045
They absolutely do. Anyone who says otherwise doesn't know shit.

That said, you don't want to use them as a full-on alternative to the grid. It's better as a supplement.
Worst case scenario, you don't get a lot of sun that week, your electric bill is still a tiny fraction of what it would be on the grid alone. Best case scenario, you get a shit-ton, and sell it back to them. It all evens out.
>>
>>261472535
>Just using it to power an average home means a significant savings/profit on a monthly electric bill, that extra money can go to whatever you want.

>>
>>261472846
it would take you 10 years to start making profit, I am not saying its bad but there are lot better investments you can do with that amount then mining an internet currency,
>>
>>261473045
>I wonder whats more efficient, solar or wind for personal use?

Definitely solar.
>>
>>261472739
You don't really need to, but you could, it's a savings either way. Solar is a much more reliable investment than bitcoin though.

Assuming it costs 8000 to set up, it's 40 months, or 3.3 years, till you've made back all your initial investment which isn't bad at all. Of course, this assumes you never have to perform maintenance, replace hardware or panels or pay taxes.

A lot of states have tax exemptions and other incentives for installing solar panels too.
I live in Oregon, and only ended up paying just shy of 3000 for about 10,000 worth of panels. It's great.
>>
>>261473596
That 8000 dollars is just the solar panels, you're going to need batteries for when the sun goes down, you also need to invest in the hardware, which pictured costs upwards of 10,000. Not to mention all the cables and wiring that needs to be done in order to set this investment up.
>>
>>261467320
It would be extremely painful.

Storing energy is extremely hard and expensive.
You could store it all of you wanted to, but that would mean having a basement full of connected batteries, which then means lods of emone for it all.
