I don't understand Nintendo's approach to VC. It was new with the Wii, so I get how the were only releasing games slowly over time instead of just having a giant dump at the beginning.
But that was last gen and the virtual console is no longer new. So why do they need to sit on a pile of ROMs and still only release a handful every week when pretty much all of them have already been available on the Wii's VC? Everything that was on Wii VC should have been available on Wii U's VC day 1.
It just bugs me on principle though. I would never pay for VC games.
Having played WW on release, Dolphin and HD I can reveal that HD is the best version.
Part of the reason for this, other than streamlining gameplay, is the interactivity you have with other people playing the game. Getting a goofy picture in a Tingle bottle is perhaps my favourite change the HD version made.

I actually prefer this to dolphin, even if it upscales and adds antialiasing. on old TVs its low res but the analogue signal blurs things together and you don't actually see jaggies at all. And while dolphin emulation is decent, it's not without its problems and even very common games have tons of glitches, ESPECIALLY when it comes to sound.
Anyone who says "why bother owning a Wii/GC when you can just emulate on PC" probably doesn't have all that much experience with dolphin

Nintendo kinda has strict quality control that the virtual console works really close to original.
On actual Wii even the analog signal is very close to original console and so on.
One other thing is that they want the game have zero hiccups to be a product to be sold. They have come out with stuff like Collector's Disc for gamecube with running N64 games, and the ambadassor GBA games for 3DS, they are kinda free extras because they have(?) imprerfections, so nintendo is OK giving them away in promotion but not as widespread product to be sold.

In order for the WiiU to enter Wii mode it essentially has to underclock itself until it reaches the same specs as the Wii hardware. The same way the GBA "VCs" work on 3DS.
