It depends on where it's located, or in more technical terms where the force vector is.
If it's aligned with the centre of mass then it's just going to be a force backwards (in the A-10s case, this will be countered by its own momentum and engines). If the force vector is not aligned, then it will give the whole thing a spin, mass centre being the pivot point of that spin.
A small gun firing on a battleship doesn't really need to be centred, as it's a relatively small force compared to the huge mass of the ship. However if you watch any large WW2 battleship fire its main guns sideways, you'll see it roll a bit (IIRC in some cases badly balanced ships would roll so much they'd turn upside down).
The gun on the OPs ship is also way bigger than the A-10s relative to the actual vehicle. Also its a single, high powered shot, which means a sudden, quick impulse that will strain the structure terribly. Considering the placement, it would throw the ship off balance and basically make it turn upwards like a pistol when fired.

Hand is holding the grip, and since your grip is very strong (relative to the force of the recoil), it's basically as if the grip weighed a lot more, hence it moves the mass centre down towards it, maybe even past it (well not really, the real mass centre of the pistol is the same, but the effect of your grip is the same as moving it down a lot), making the whole thing pivot around that (and since the force vector is above the mass centre, it will make it turn counter-clockwise).
Try holding a pistol upside down, and yu'll see it now is forced downwards.

Realistic ship design would involve something like faceless, ovoids. Unrealistic ship design is something like EVE, where the ship profiles are semi-fucked but they still work within basic reasoning.

Glass cockpits are useless in space because they are a massive weakpoint and at the ranges where space combat would take place realistically, your eyes will be useless.
After all it's already happening with modern combat aircraft, who have 50km+ range on their missiles and dogfights are absurdly rare.
I can understand maybe having the possibility of raiding a armour plate to reveal a window in case all your other sensors and cameras are damaged and you need to land, but in combat? Nah, if there was a window it would be locked down behind armour, too big a weakpoint.

Love the Minnie old looks. Love them enough to tattoo Minnie shit on my body.
The Hel and the Nag are my favorites, though.

Because reality is boring as shit anon.

They're two different ship classes. Halycon is a light cruiser, Marathon is heavy cruiser.

Heat dissipation nigger, ever heard of it?
Getting your vehicle to cool down in space is lot harder than anywhere with an atmosphere available freely. Building a perfectly spherical spacecraft is just asking for a disaster.
In other words: you don't build a death star without a thermal exhaust port
who would win in a fight? the imperium of man or the eve universe?
the spaceships in Freelancer are pretty dang ugly, but I enjoy the honking great prow on the Liberty ships

Probably EVE assuming all the factions could stop fighting each other for 5 min.
They could probably outmaneuver Imperium fleets due to having FTL travel that isn't insanely dangerous to use and spacecraft are a lot more common with better tech.
I'll admit ships in Halo have awesome names.
In Amber Clad, Pillar of Autumn, Glasgow Kiss, Euclid's Anvil, Harbinger of Piety, Retribution's Thunder.
But best design. No, that clearly goes to the Homeworld Series. Designs inspired by the likes of Elson and Foss shit all over grey and black. Personally I really kike the Taiidan Fighters from the first game with the giant gun hanging off the side.
Since the mothership has already been posted Hiigaran Destroyer. You know it's time to wreck shit when a bunch of them stop travelling and swing around for a broardside.

As far as I remember, doesn't the Imperium Man have a whole heresy thing when it comes to actually building new spaceships? Hundreds of EVE ships are churned out daily being piloted by essentially infinite clones and being funded by unimaginably rich people.
>>256769706
Yeah but they've got no hesitation in unleashing planet killing weapons. They're happy to lose millions of men and thousands of ships and have they entire population of a system killed with the planets reduced to wastelands. As long as it remains THEIR wasteland.
>>256768421
The Imperium would have to win it in one strike. They only have a limited number of ships (that they barely know how to fly, and cannot replace) where as EVE has Hundreds of ships constantly being produced, and pilots that come back to life to rejoin the fight.
In a battle of attrition EVE wins because eventually the Imperium would run out of ships to keep sending into the grinder.

>internal design
>shielded from outer heat
>generated heat can be absorbed by proper cooling medium and transported and used to power other machinery
>depending on technical level even reabsorbed to generate more energy
>external design
>exposed to external heat sources
>shit gets hot because the vacuum isolates it

Going strictly by game numbers there's roughly 8,000 solar systems in EVE, with most likely many more than just aren't in the game. I can't really find any up to date lists on the number of Titans, but as of 2011 it was somewhere around 400 and has grown exponentially with the overall wealth of the playerbase.
Like I said, pilots in EVE are just as happy to fight and die for even the most minor thing simply because they're immortal. There are easily 10 times as many cloning stations as there are solar systems, and that's only those that exist on space stations, planets surely have even more, and again those are many times the number of systems that they exist in.

>Transparent aluminum
wat
That is the dumbest thing I have ever read.
>>256768421
EVE. New Eden is in a post-scarcity period where pilots are immortal. They have the production capacity to make moon-sized titans every six months or so. Frigates wield antimatter ammunition.
If the IoM was in the dark ages it might stand a chance.
>>256765732

Aluminium can not be transparent, and it is not magnetic.

At least in the SW univerese, the windows are made out of Transparisteel, which can actually withstand most shit in space that is not actively trying to fuck it up.
>>256753042
Not even close
>"BUT OUR WINDOWS ARE MADE OF SUPER STRONG ULTRA TECH MATERIAL THAT IS AS STRONG AS THE REST OF THE HULL"
>Lets completely ignore the fact that a window allowing light through would mean a lot of dead (or at least blind) crewmen when lasers start shooting (guess what a laser is)
>Lets completely ignore that the material being see-through means it has to have physical properties that handicap it in strength and resilience
Stiletto from Nexus the Jupiter Incident is the best ship design. It actually looks like it could be made and could work.
>>256773056
Let's hope they have blast shields. Someone needs to slap the guy designing these things.
>all these forgettable designs.
Meanwhile I remember every single ship in Star Control.
best evil ship design

>Rammed the Pegasus into a Basestar to save the Galactica.
No, I think you will find that this is the best spaceship design.
>>256759790
Well it is called a Paris-class Frigate
>>256773056
What would you propose as an alternative?
Maybe not best design, but best ship.
This is the Garden of Kadesh. For thirteen generations we have protected it from the unclean. The Turanic Raiders who came before you refused to join and were punished for this trespass. Like theirs, your ship has already defiled this holy place. If you have come to join we welcome you and will spare your ship until all have disembarked. If you have come to consume the garden you will be removed at once.

>what is newtons 3rd law of motion

Those ships have lots of weapon systems that can target enemy spacecraft located anywhere nearby (missiles, for example), but the MAC Gun is so large relative to the overall size of the vessel and so powerful that to have it rotate and then fire would probably put the craft into an uncontrolled spin, without extreme countering from thrusters. By having the MAC Gun face forward, the ship can use its main engines to counteract the forces released when a round is fired.
tl;dr those frigates are really really cool and their slow reload time make for interesting tactics

Great going, you useless piece of shit. It can’t even fly.

For a frigate, it’s at least an interesting design.

I always have a soft spot for that.

Pointless fins and shit need to go, but I really like the shape. Where are the engines? Need to know that to know if it would even fly.
