Because the game has too much stuff in it that makes fights totally one sided. Between massive damage from backstabbing and stupid ripostes (via painting daggers) to retard strength spells and weapons that hit for stupid amounts in a single hit or even worse, in combos that you can't escape from because of 1 hit poise breaking. And that's not even accounting for horrible netcode and inconsistent hitboxes. On top of that, a lot of the "fun" weapons like Greatbows are so weak they aren't worth using except in very specific circumstances even further enforcing meta. Because that's what games are now, they are meta simulators.

I've pretty much mastered PvE parrying, so that's why I'm so fucking mad that PvP parrying is completely random up it's ass.

Short answer is that its just poorly executed and balanced.

Long answer. A lot of it has to do with the roll hit boxes on players. Theres a lagging hit box on rolls that can be hit and/or grabbed into a backstab. Its been there since Demon Souls, and is only now really noticeable because of theres less I-frames in Dark Souls 2. So, because of how easy it is to grab someone into a backstab, and the enormous damage from it, you get a meta that likes to fish for this rather than poking or doing something like a neutral/footsies game in a fighter.

Then theres damage, all damage is enormously fuck large. Especially from spells, but its from all weapons.

Finally you've got a community of shit heels that think that PVP is legit form of competition. It's not, being good at pvp in Souls game is simply being good at a broken system.

Because invading in NG sucks with the way farming for orbs and Soul Memory works. Eventually you end up so disadvantaged because you're fighting people who have far more game progress than you and have access to all the perks that entails.

NG+ is ok at first but quickly sucks dick when your SM shoots up to the point where nearly everyone is adding more levels so they can run around in full Havels spamming high level magic.

Dark Souls 2 doesn't have that.

Since I know it's a guy at around my level, unless I was an idiot and didn't spend my souls on the right thing (read: adp, weapon upgrades). By the point I start getting invaded by Havelbabies, I've already played through the game to the point where I -only- want to pvp. The tension of possibly not making it to the next bonfire disappears.

Soul Memory ruined a big part of what made getting invaded interesting.

But what is awesome about Souls PvP is that it is -supposed- to be an interruption to the story and part of the narrative. Lorefaggotry aside though, it's one of the few games that offer a chance at 1v1 medieval fantasy combat in a 3d environment. There are few games that offer that opportunity. Which is why we get buttsundered if our only grab at that opportunity is, frankly, shit.

There aren't many games where you can customize your character's appearance, armour and weapons and then fight in many different locations that offer terrain that can be used to one's advantage.

Name one and I will drop this buggy, unbalanced mess for it in a new york minute.

DaS1 had the summoning phantoms thing, yeah, but that's the cost of invading. You run the risk of having to fight off more than one person in order to get what you want. Boohoo, you're the one invading this guy in the first place, he can do whatever he wants to survive.

I've rarely encountered a situation where I've had more than 2 hosts challenge the boss as soon as I invade within an hour of gameplay.

I have no problem with the host trying to run back to a bonfire to summon people. What I have a Problem with is bonfires being a couple steps away at any given time, or the level is so short the host can just run to the boss before I spawn in.

Do the invasion cool downs proc for the invader or invaded?, because getting your ass kicked one after another like Sol and Luna is fair shit but if not then it works I guess.
Easy to boss run?, you do know there are some bullshit bosses in the game like Ancient Dragon and Sinh who have a habit of just saying fuck you and insta-killing you, that combined with people invading you just to fuck you over can get annoying and might drive away players. There needs to be a balancing act of invasions and just leaving some people the fuck alone so they can make actual progress as apposed to just fucking around.
Problem with the DS2 system of everyone must pvp is that it really promotes rampant cheating to a degree, many times ive blue invaded on the guilty just to see them nearly die and turn on inf hp so I cant kill them so I have to leave the dogs alone.
From need to really crack down on cheating to make the online stuff more fun and some of the ideas like maybe putting in a red and blue eye orb in the dlc to find would be nice but in the end would that in turn make the trainer uses more rampant?.
Id really just like to bodyguard people without using that shit ring and have them clean up the online code so I can fucking do what the sentinels are there for to help people who suck shit at pvp.

If you get invaded you get a cooldown until you can be invaded again, its generally long enough to full clear an area or make an attempt on a boss. Cheating happens, it ain't great but people are going to be assholes regardless of the game.

Great, fantastic. Except most weapons in the same tree have the same moveset with a few exceptions. It's less "Ok, do I want the weapon with a more varied moveset but less damage or do I want the opposite, more damage with less versatility?" and more "Well, they are both the same moveset wise, so I'll just go with the one that does more damage."

SL60 could only be paired up with a SL700 if the SL60 were the one invading. You don't have to worry about level 387 havel shitter ho ho hoing it's way into your world. This is fine, the risk of gross mismatches is in invading other worlds, not in simply playing in your own.

However, that's now possible both ways in DS2, as SM is the only thing that matters anymore. SL60 could be invaded by a SL700 simply if their SM level matched up. You might as well max out your level, wear the strongest armor, and just jump on every new meta bandwagon that comes out as adjustments are made.
