Not particularly the xen ones like the headcrabs, but the vortigons are pretty ugly, and the fat slug things are just terrible. I really wish combine were aliens instead of just humans in armor.

Its a little button near the squad deployment screen that lets you clear all items in the inventories of people who are not selected to be on the mission. That shit saves so much time, and is so useful, I swear to god.

It's funny, some levels are balanced, just beautifully. Perfectly fair, fun, and you get by on the skin of your teeth. While others have aliens rushing you in packs of 10's from the first turn and you're stuck hiding behind the nearest cover to spawn getting sniped by thin men. I never thought I'd find thin men as challenging as they could be before this shit.
Also the tech scaling is broken as shit, even with the "fix" to the latest alphas.

To be honest it was a bad position. All the cover was concentrated in one area, so I was forced to bunch everyone up (which I knew was going to be total shit when one of them used the spit). Then they had 4 sectoids backing them up, so I couldn't move anyone to better cover because they'd be flanked by the sectoids. Not to mention one of the thin men was already on top of a tower, and rockets are now extremely inaccurate, so I couldn't take out 3 or 4 of them that were bunched together (the rocket flew too far and only got 2 sectoids). Then the thin men got a lucky crit on one of my soldiers, 2 of the rookies panicked and hunkered down, and it basically went downhill from there. Managed to get the rest out but most were heavily wounded.
Alien Isolation is looking pretty good.

Anyone else notice when some people die you get huge increased chance to hit and get missed?
Very first mission I attempted on impossible, killed 4 aliens, 5 left all awoken, got one of my guy critted from half the map behind full elevated cover, second guy panicked, killed 3rd guy. Next turn sent last guy to get a visible position of the panicked fucker (I would have killed this guy myself) but then the alien killed him and I still don,t know how but as soon as I was with only one guy, everything went so smoothly, I flanked all 5 aliens, one shot me, for 3 fucking damage, and he had me flanked, my guy killed him in panic. Then the very last alien for some reason was hunked down, I figured, that's stupid, it means it has no vision of me if I sneak by to full cover outside of his LoS right? Nope, fucker saw apparently me, flanked me from 4 tiles and missed, then I killed it. Fuck this game giving me bullshit crits and then going easy, fuck it.

The Combine are a very original and remarkably likely vision of what an intergalactic/interdimentional empire would look like.
Instead of being just one species invading places with maybe a handful of slave races serving as infantry cannon fodder, the Combine are a faceless, seemingly leaderless self-powering conquest machine. Incorporated species are biologically modified to create custom war machinery. It's quite possible nobody actually knows who the "origin" species of the Combine are, where their homeworld is or how did it all start. Everything in the Combine empire is geared towards optimization, and even the ones who are apparently in control (the Advisers) might just be the best administrative species the Combine encountered in the past, so just like everything else they were incorporated.

Only the Advisors are really Combine. The rest are what's called "synth" creatures; machines made out of other species.

Depends on the start, I usually get 6 planes, and then conga line 2-3 planes, and finish off with the fourth, however thats if i NEED to kill it, Im content with 1-2 going toe to toe if I think i can win
Stingray missiles should be in the hanger at the start, and for the weapons it basically comes down to this

>Carbines= Soldier has shit aim, or if the enemy has little armor back up and want more hits vs damage
>SMGs= If you want to flank alot to keep the aliums under pressure
>Battle Rifle= Soldier with REALLY high aim, or with scope+laser sight and firing from a static postion
Also, for snipers machine pistol is almost ALWAYS better than the pistol
