Seeing as how Sakurai is a lot more interested in adding heroes than villain to the roster, it would be adequate for Star Fox to have its entire, original team added to the roster, Falco could be Fox's Lucina, Peppy is the heavy and strong guy and Slippy could be the odd, tricky fighter that pulls all kind of tech to fight.
Getting rid of some of the most unimportant villains was a nice move on Sakurai's part.

Fire Emblem Awakening sold a gorillian copies and is one of the most popular games on the 3DS. Makes sense that two reps from that game would appear.
Star Fox has been lagging behind a whole lot in the past decade or so. With the 64 remake not doing too well and the WiiU Starfox still its concept stages, there is not really anything new to add. Krystal is a possibility, but she is also a throwaway character with no redeeming values.
They are going to shorten the Star Fox cast if anything. Expect either Falco or Wolf to be axed.

There's a few reasons:
1. Star Fox isn't explicitly Japanese artstyle and so isn't naturally appealing to Japan.
2. Star Fox isn't a series that Nintendo has been trying to make happen for twenty years and are finally getting their foot in the door with so they want to push promotion hard now.
3. Smash has not always been a vehicle for Star Fox advertisement since Melee.
4. Star Fox has not had a recent game and the new Star Fox is too far on the horizon to have been known to Sakurai in time to help promote it.

Miyamoto was involved with the game. Part of why it's short is because it was originally going to be a first person shooter but it was looking bad, so Miyamoto said to switch it to third person and focus on the multiplayer. That is part of why the campaign was so short.
This idea that Miyamoto hates Krystal and can't wait to get rid of her is nothing more than wishful thinking. He has been a producer on every game in the series and he never had a problem with her. No-one would have batted an eye if she went her own way after Adventures and they never heard from her again, but they specifically chose to keep her around. The amount of emphasis Nintendo put on Krystal in Adventures' advertising suggests to me that they had wanted her to be the main female of Star Fox ever since they decided to turn Dinosaur Planet into a Star Fox game.

I think it's funny how people attack her, because when you think about it, Adventures takes place after 64, and Fox JUST killed the individual who killed his father. So it'd make sense to have someone to eventually continue to bloodline.

Zelda has 3 slots so-far and Fire Emblem has 3 as well. Star Fox had 1 in Brawl. Or more simply, Fire Emblem has 3 movesets.
Star Fox is a tiny series compared to Fire Emblem, I don't think they should invest a lot of dev time into it. Wolf as a clone would be fine, but I feel Falco is too similar to fox on several fundamental levels to the point where you could just have Falco's old moveset be Fox's custom options.
Krystal would be a welcome newcomer in my eyes due to this Roster's lack of a staff user. However, She would also confirm my fear that Smash is putting characters in for the sole purpose of how many boners they give

pretty much, just know that learning wave dashing means almost nothing until you implement it into your play style. I suggest first going to somewhere like FD and just wave dashing across it constantly until you get the feel. then, play against a cpu or friend and try and implement what you learned when you play. you don't even have to constantly use wavedashing, just use it when you think its right.

Depends what character you like, if it's one with a really fast shorthop window like Fox it can be kind of frustrating to try learning wavedashing with him. I learned with Luigi since his wavedash is the furthest and most noticeable and has a fairly wide margin of error. (plus wavedashing around as Luigi is fun as hell)
