I think Redline gets too much shit from anime fans who didn't like the story not hand-holding them. I'm pretty sure that people are uncomfortable with their anime characters being hard to read like real people, and Redline did a really good job at characterization and portraying how memories affect people. You don't just flashback your whole story, you think of specific things. It's not a complete picture. I absolutely loved the dynamic between Frisbee and JP.
