Personally I don't give a shit if it sells poorly or not. Nintendo seems to make the best games when they're backed in a financial corner, like with the gamecube, whereas with the wii they just kinda took everything for granted and there were long droughts of no-games and nothing but wiifit wiimusic bullshit. The benefit of a console selling well is that you get more attraction from 3rd parties, but 3rd parties hate nintendo consoles even when they're runaway successes, so it's really a moot point for the customer since you know you're not getting the multiplat 3rd party games anyway.

Are handheld expectations just different? I know we were coming of the old DS and all but lets just consider that the 3DS sold about the same as the PS4(which we considered to be on of the best console launches ever in terms of sales) in the same amount of time and the DS still had strong titles at this point in time so not everyone was going to immediately make the jump, plus it was kinda pricey.
Also it took two Christmases and 3 Mario games to get a Nintendo console up too 6 million units sold, that really doesn't sound great for the Wii U.
