Regarding the finals -- it was lame and boring as fuck to watch, but that's what happens when a move is designed like Zero Suit's whip. It's safe on shield, meaty as hell, and clears up mad space. Of course a character like Kirby is going to be at a massive disadvantage in the neutral game against that.
I figured from watching Her performance against Rosalina in round 1 she'd end up in finals, and as soon as Kirby was her opponent, it was a sealed fate. It doesn't make it fun to watch, but taking advantage of an advantageous matchup and a tactic that your opponent can't or isn't dealing with is how games are won. If nothing else, It should hopefully highlight some of the weaknesses built into how much the game rewards these strong zoning and escape moves.
