Does a Hori pad intended for PS4 work on PC aswell? I need a gamepad that doesn't have a shit d-pad.

Should since the PS4 just uses standard bluetooth & USB. I got a DS4 just for PC use in the first week or two after trying a friend's and it showed up as a normal USB or BT HID and I could just use a generic input customizer without needing anything new at all. The only part that would need something more custom is if you want to use the touchpad, I never bothered to figure out exactly how that thing works. But since someone wrote a tweak to make it functional even on an iphone of all places it must not be that difficult. I've never bothered to look though because I don't need some half-assed touchpad thing on my computer.

So in what, 5-10 years? Emulating a homozygous memory space on a split system like current PCs is going to be a PITA if it's even possible at all. PCs are going that direction too particularly if tech like Xpoint works out as Intel and the like promise, but right now that's still a long ways off from actual full commercial production. Those folks find a JB for 1.76 firmware that let them look at some RAM doesn't change that at all.

I use DS4Windows for DS4. It's great since it turns the DS4 into a 360 controller in compatibility while also making use of touchpad. I guess my question would be if DSWindows would work on the Hori pad for PS4.

Nice, there you go then OP. If that Hori is intended to be a replacement for a DS4 it is probably using identical id mappings and may just work out of box with that program too assuming it isn't overly picky about device ID (and if so it'd be a one line fix).
I don't really have any complaints about my setup already but might take a look at that later, looks useful enough.

I think it depends on what you want. For general purpose, it would be DS4. But for 2D sidescrollers and fighting games, DS3 is better. There might be some better Hori pad I'm not aware of.
Avoid the Xbox controllers. Overhyped vastly. They're good for games that keyboard does better anyways.
