In any decent tabletop/videogame STR essentially is DEX depending on your character. To be high in one and low in the other represents some disorder. It's better represented by a high or low skill in the type of weapon you're using.

usually i prefer str.
str weapons are usually long. also the longer the weapon is the heavier it gets so str helps dealing with the weight.
longer weapons often have swing attacks that deal aoe dmg which obviously helps against groups of enemies.
some enemies have some kind if shields or can block which requires you to attack with a certain moveset to be able to deal dmg. the high base dmg of str weapons often help me to kill those enemies in few swings before they get their shield up again or recover and can block again.
another benefit of the high base dmg is that you are often able to one shot enemies. if you get to the point where you know the moveset of the enemy you only need one opening to kill it. one block or a side step and you oneshot it.
str weapons also often have something like stun-effects or armor penetration. not only helps the first one with channeling abilities or to interrupt the enemy, but combined with the high base dmg and armor penetration you can try your luck on higher leveled enemies.
obviously this varies from game to game and depends on it's specific mechanics but that's my general observation.
also you may have noticed that my english is not the best. sorry not sorry that not everyone is speaking it natively

From what I remember, battles are left out of the Books because George doesn't want to fuck them up since he doesn't have military knowledge. Action happens before and in the aftermath of battles. But, considering that Westeros is based off feudal western and central europe and there's major use of mercenaries and professional soldiers, battles in there happen just like they did in medieval europe.

They get SLIGHTLY tougher on NG+, then about half that with every additional NG+. So if you actually get to NG+7 without being bored, the enemies make an effort to not just fall down dead.

Modern games are the first time DEX builds are enjoyable.
Playing Dexmonkey builds on old MMOs like Asheron's Call or UO were pretty lame, because it was just seeing the word "Dodge" appear over your head over and over as something wailed on you. Technically effective, but lame. Even up to games like Dragon Age Origins and stuff this was the case.
The widespread use of roll mechanics has finally made DEX builds fun to use and visually more satisfying.

The olden elves surpass most of the Ainur in their power, obviously none of them come close to measuring up to the Valar, though.
If the olden elves weren't as powerful as the Ainur then Ainur wouldn't be constantly put against them, Balrogs are Ainur too and there are cases where you have elves striking many of them down.
The strongest Maiar, the Lord of all Balrogs, fought a duel to the death with an elf lord who at the end of the fight had two broken arms and only lost because when he raised his weapon to deliver the final blow the elf jumped at him with tremendous strength and impaled him on his helmet which had a spike, both falling into a magical well of infinite depth.
