Personally, I think the optionals should be ways you can upset other players. Like taunts, or screwing with their UI, or making their weapon switching keys not work 33% of the time, or make it so they have autoaim that veers slightly off to the side of the enemy.
Maybe something that replaced all the textures with a crude swastika and the text "0wn3d by {playername}"
