How come this scene was so out of character and felt so lazy. I understand the the devs wanted to give the player consequences, but the game gave you no way to resolve this.

Geralt had valid reasons to have feelings for both girls, and its completely understandable why he had a hard time making up his mind between the two. Yen was mad for Geralt, and having her drop Geralt after the Djiin mission felt like such a middle finger to her character development.

Also the game baited me into confessing your feelings to Triss in order to get her to stay and go to Kaer Morhen (Even though she apparently shows up anyways, despite her dramatic exit).

Even if you clearly couldn't have both, I wish the game gave you the chance to win one of them back.
>>
Because they already had 450K words of script and got lazy near the end.
>>
>>343861531
>Geralt had valid reasons to have feelings for both girls
Only reason he went with Triss in one and two is because she mislead him and took advantage of his memory loss.

When left to his own devices, he goes Top Tsun every time.

>Also the game baited me into confessing your feelings to Triss

You were weak and thinking with your dick.

Sleep in the bed you made. Now at least you get the best B&W ending, if not the canon one the devs intended.
But desu, you're correct. It was a lazy way to resolve the situation, and they avoided having to write anything by going the lol comedy route. It's a big mistake and I expected better of CDPR.
>>
>I wish the game gave you the chance to win one of them back
this

Hell, I don't even like Triss so much. There was no "Do you want to fuck Triss and destroy your relationship with Yen (and Triss)" notification. I just wanted to see all cutscenes.
>>
>>343861912
>There was no "Do you want to fuck Triss and destroy your relationship with Yen (and Triss)" notification
Man, it's almost like the game has many examples of long term consequences to your actions.

For fucks sake anon. Even Mass Effect doesn't let you fuck multiple people without a conflict.
>>
>>343861907
>Sleep in the bed you made. Now at least you get the best B&W ending, if not the canon one the devs intended.

I got Ciri to move in with me in B&W, although I saw Triss and Yen can as well. Is there any way to get Triss and Yen to if they already left you in the main game, or are you stuck with Ciri?
>>
>>343862137
STUCK.

All in not lost.

New game+ awaits bro
>>
>>343862137
>I saw Triss and Yen can as well.
Only Yen, technically.

The end of B&W with Yen is retirement. It's your new home.

With Triss, it's just a fun getaway before you go back into politics and intrigue.
>>
>>343861531
>protagonist centric morality is a valid reason
Don't be buttmad that being an indecisive cunt who wants everything to always work in your favor didn't work out for you this time.
>>
>>343861907
>Only reason he went with Triss in one and two is because she mislead him and took advantage of his memory loss
When will this retarded idea ever end? Geralt wanted to be left in the dark. Let's say for a moment that he did want to shit about his life. Dandelion, Zoltan, and fucking everyone who ever heard a ballad about Geralt are just as responsible as Triss for not telling him anything about Yen/Ciri.
>>
>>343863610
I dunno anon.
There's a special place for people that really betray their friends. And using the amnesia of one of your best friends boyfriends to fuck him, then try to use magic to make it stick seems pretty scummy to me.

That's not to say Geralt and Yen aren't also pretty shitty people. It's just the way that they express their poor character isn't as disappealing as the way Triss expresses hers.
>>
>>343862674
Is it possible to get more than one girl to move in?
>>
>>343861531
I loved how if you played this the Bioware way, telling every chick you meet you love them to get them to like you, it comes back to bite you in the ass.
>>
>>343864535
Nope.

You either get your romance choice, Ciri or the fuckup ending, which is Dandelion.
>>
>>343864535
No.
If you romanced Yen or Triss you get them.
If you didn't romance either or got cucked like OP you get Ciri
If you got cucked and you got Ciri killed the devs wanted you to kill yourself so you get Dandalion.
>>
>>343864894
What's a default ending?

I know some people actually picked the premade character.

Is it Ciri?

W3 has some jarring plotholes in its sidequests sadly. I do appreciate that the game fucks you over if you try to romance everyone but the whole scene is indeed completely out of character for everyone evolved. The only thing worse is the finale to Djikstras scheme which made absolutely zero sense and felt extremely lazy. Oh yes, the half-genius Djikstra with the lame leg will go head to head with Geralt with like 4 guards despite knowing first hand what he is capable of. My mosted hated moment of the entire Witcher series by far.
>>
>>343864771
But Geralt was conflicted. He truly loved Yen before he lost his memory, and then loved Triss post memory loss. When he got his memory back, he had strong feelings for both and was completely conflicted.
>>
>>343865038
I think its Yen.
>>
>>343865723
Well he mostly "loved" Triss due to her manipulating him by triggering things that he liked about Yennefer.
>>
>>343865602
What even happens if you side with him? I wrecked his shit because theres no way Id kill Ves or Roche. Do they survive if you ditch them?
>>
Yen is my true waifu and I didn't even give Triss the light of day, Triss is just a test for your commitment to Yen, if you go with Triss, you fail
>>
>>343865964
They die and Dijkstra becomes the new ruler of Redania, driving back the Nilfgaardian invasion.
>>
so realistically who would date Triss if Geralt stayed with Yennefer?

Good question...guess she was better off agreeing to a polyamorous relationship with Geralt and Yen.

The writing is about as good in the books, too.

To be honest, the books aren't very well written.

Someone like Joe Abercrombie blows Sapkowski out of the water.

And Abercrombie isn't even that great in genre fantasy.
>>
>>343867506
Yes, but also in W1 (act2) when Geralt askink her about restoration of his memory she refused this idea because it would not real memory just her projection.

Abercrombie predictable as fuck.
Also early Sapkowski was really good in aatmosphere and lyric.
>>

It's not like Triss has an ulterior motive or anything.

U wot
I call bullshit. Fucking ton of twists in The First Law.

It only really get predictable in Red Country, which doesn't stop it from being a great western.
>>
>>343861907
Why do you think that the B&W ending with Ciri moving in is canon, out of curiosity?
>>
One thing that really annoyed me is that you get the same ending as trying to romance both of them when you don't romance either of them. The game still assumes you tried to be a Casanova and got dumped.
>>
>>343867853
Where is she lying? If Triss really wanted to replace Yen she definitely would not miss the opportunity to brainwash Geralt especially since he ask about artificial memory restoration.
Also, it doesn't looks like Yen care about it much when she restored her memory, prefering to cucking Geralt with Emghyr.
>>
>>343867617

I never sided with them to begin with so no biggy. Plus he is a good leader, he is also just a huge jew bad too.

And most of them very obvious especially intrigues.
>>
>>343868118
I think you misunderstand.

The Ciri ending is best, but it's NOT the semi-canon one the devs were obviously writing for, which was Yen.
>>
>>343868191

My first playthrough, I did what Geralt should've done from the very beginning. Stay away from sorceress shits

Like Letho mentioned in passing regarding Yennefer, for all of Geralt's intelligence, he can't see that they fucking ruin him with their toxic bullshit.

>>
>>343868287

>>
>>343868279
You say that, but there literally aren't actual clues in the book about later developments.

You basically have to meta guess, and the series does a pretty good job at subverting the base meta predictions.

It's not a Thomas Covenant subversion of the genre, but it's not a fucking sanderson novel either.
>>

>>
>>343868374

You should read Best Served Cold, he's on another level in that book.
>>

>>
>>343868367
Oh you mean that Letho that went through all that bullshit to save his Witcher school and got obviously betrayed by Emhyr? Yeah that retarded asshole sure is a shining example to live by.
>>
>>343868450
It's the worst of the "standalones" desu senpai.

His female characters do dramatically improve though. Murcatto is what Ferro should have been.
>>
>>343868118

Because Gerald lives nobody, but Gerald loves everybody, he can't be capable of real live unless you really want him to. You can say he really wanted to but his actions never showed it. It doesn't detract from what he felt for any of the women in his life but he wouldn't give up the opportunity to have more. Things about Geralt are partially unfortunate upbringing, partially hypocrisy. Much like lamenting about his lack of choice in becoming a Witcher but secretly living it

>>
>>343868718
I completely disagree.

Felt like Red Country had way more heart. Best Served Cold tried so hard to shock. It had some god-tier characters though.

The Heroes is actually most likely the best, in terms of actual writing. But it's also boring.

I'll be honest, the most fun I had with any of them was Sharp Ends. Pure fanservice, that.
>>
>>343868652
>If you're going to bring up the lake teleport bullshit,
I talking about her acting during the whole game because W3 full of moments like:
Plot: okay Geralt you need to do some serious shit
Yen: Nah, he will be okay, what are you waiting Geralt move on, I am not going to help you.
>we both know it only happens after you torpedo the relationship AND taunt her about it.
So what? Yen always taunt Geralt about how useless he is. And again it's doesn't look like she was very warried about Geralt destiny whe he rescued her from the Wild Hunt.
>>
>>343868858
Ever notice how everyone that is lecturing Geralt about his relationship with Yennefer is a complete fuckup if it comes to interactions with other people?
>>
>>343868992

One of meeting with Emghyr, somewhere near the Skellig if remember correct. Triss says that geralt could just sink with all his gears, while Yen don't care about such things.

They could've done it better, but here's the gist of it.

He's a high functioning sociopath with a narcissistic world view mixed in with violent behavioral disorders and horrifically poor impulse control.

He gets angry, he smashes, and that's it. He only cares about others in how they relate to him and only cares about events that directly affect him. He is sociopathic and attributes little to no value to the lives of others; he will readily kill out of spite, rage, or pride.

And once you understand that, his behavior makes perfect sense. He is completely fucking insane, and has no emotional response to problems other than violent rage.
>>
