That scene pretty much spawned the ryumako fandom, even though many perceive it as date as in friendly outing, especially considering it's shown in the ending sequence, and the two of them aren't alone there.
Basically, it all depends on who you ask, and one side won't ever agree with the other. My advice is to believe what you want, but don't go spouting it's canon.

Artist for the comic went by " ëª½ë² " or, " @roricman " on twitter according to a tumblr post who looked into it. roricman deleted his account a while ago and took pretty much all the work with it apparently. If the writer of the fanfic was correct in naming the artist for this then they are still on Danbooru at least but don't have a tag for the artist.
In theory everything he made could be there, just have to sort through the few thousand images to find them.
