By "discussing the game" I meant "talking about its plot and characters", not "trying to estimate the length". Visual novels with the focus on romance, especially shorter ones, generally don't have a lot to discuss, so being "the first" doesn't mean much. Unless you tend to fuck yourself over by highlighting spoilers, then yes, getting it on its release date is probably for the better.

You're 99% there, in AA the mindbreak occurs during the good ending - if you don't mindbreak the heroine, you'll get her bad end. She needs the mindbreak to be able to accept the fact that she's gay, she's in deep denial up until that point.

It's been vaguely discussed a few times in terms of how villainous the protagonist is and how properly gay she is, IIRC, but being old and untranslated only a few people have any opinion on it.
I mostly know it because I was checking out other Alice Soft games, and I expect many people can say the same.

/u/ already discussed Princess's Maid when it came out on Yuri GameJam, but the dev is also working on Princess's Pet, an otome vn with a yuri route. A short demo's out, but it's something, and it's not some last minute yuri route either.

It's real short. You play a flirty schoolgirl who hits on the yuri route. That's it. The het routes are easy to avoid and it's easy enough to blow off the guys. I did scan the dev's tumblrs and she does like yuri well enough, meaning the yuri won't be tacked on in the full free game.

I went mostly for Lyria route,with choices like 'be rude' early on because I tend to pick what I think the MC would do in VNsbut it seems that turned out for the better. It was really easy to switch to Melody and Scherza in my case.When Lyria asked if I would go to Vega with her, that seems to be the final say in picking between Lyria and Melody. In my experience it's especially common in same-sex literature because there are too many 'she's around.
Burly Detective Syndrome isn't necessarily wrong done once in a while, but it's ridiculous if over-used, and the occasionally-useful feature it has in pure text (burning in descriptors so the reader remembers them) is redundant in VN.

You still have to start the game a and play through the tutorial (which is the story intro) with a male MC. So I guess without any explanation shortly after you begin your adventure you suddenly turn into a girl and no one seems to notice. You don't even have any way to switch until after the tutorial.

Speaking of obscure VNs without links. Anyone here tried the JP doujin VN SeaBed? You can get it on the JP DLsite. Seems to be a yuri(or at least subtext?) mystery VN. I'd get it, it's actually pretty cheap (648円) and seems not too short for the price either (470k moji), but JP dlsite needs creditcards so I can't purchase it. It's not on the English dlsite unfortunately, where I could've used paypal.

I think the recent review by Kastel is a great representation of the work. The writing style is incredibly unique, and most definitely not for everyone.

They were ready on time, except with a shitty translation which they somehow thought they could get away with and nobody would complain. What's taking time isn't fixing the script, it's redoing the entire translation from scratch. The script they had shown with the demo was unsalvageable, and there is no reason to believe that the rest of their script was any better.

Their 'excuse' seems to be that they had zero QA and just assumed whoever was translating it knew what they were doing, which turned out to be wrong. So it was "ready" in the sense that it had a full script in English, but that script was awful.
So give your thanks to the people who cared enough about Flowers to raise holy hell and make Jast do their jobs right. If it were a bigger company I'd say somebody must have been fired over this but I don't know if they have enough people to fire.

No, I'm pretty sure these licenses were essentially parallel. They all came in rather short succession and Mangagamer didn't plan to look at other Innocent Grey titles because they still had one they worked on at that time. The "licensing phase" of last year was long since over at the point they've been done with KnS2, so this year would've been the earliest they'd license it, especially because they have to get the other stuff out as well.
In short, Mangagamer chose their licenses last year, which did NOT include Flowers. They got surprised by the license as they thought they'd have the deal with its Dev and don't need to "hurry" and wanted KnS2 out first.
Well, something like that. I could be wrong I guess, but generally speaking a publisher can only publish so much. There's really no reason to assume Flowers would be out by Mangagamer even if they "wanted to license it last year", which, again, I don't think is true.
