I may have worded it the wrong way. I do like the idea of HomuMado because Homura can only really be happy if she's with Madoka. In that sense I do "support" it, but I just can't get myself to ship it. For example I'd prefer it if Homu ended up alone and somehow still found happiness.

I wasn't even mad. I was just shocked. Shocked and disappointed that Homura's beautiful love would be corrupted in such a way. The final episode had Homura coming to terms with Madoka's wish, she had made peace with it even though Homu missed Madoka terribly. the spin offs are nice, but it's always been the more broken parts of the girls' relationship that kept me interested, since the early episodes of the show were airing, and I don't get that as much from the characters from outside of the main group.

like, the couple that WERE about the main group were fantastic! - and maybe we could have gotten more content that way without Rebellion, but I'm sure there's gonna be tons more official pre-Rebellion content, too! basically, keeping the story going is good no matter what, if you ask me.

Urobuchi agrees with you. He said that is an epilogue to the series though. His goal was to make a continuation. While I think there is a segment of the fanbase still ass mad about Rebellion and that any sequel would be "undoing" Rebellion event wise, this doesn't mean the characters will stop growing.

Madoka really hasn't done anything for Homura. Rebellion was her duty and obligation to save magical girls, not something done to save Homura. Does Mado come to love Homu when she realizes how important she is to her? Can they come to terms with their seemingly incompatible wishes? Can Madoka fix Homura's self-loathing? Do they go to the Law of Cycles or create something new? Are they destined to be separated forever?

Does Sayaka's quest for justice and wanting to return to the LoC harm her relationship with Kyoko? Will Homura and Sayaka put aside their differences for Madoka?

Do Mami and Nagisa ever become relevant? (hint: maybe)

There's still a lot of stuff they can do before that end, with repairing MadoHomu being a big one.

I've honestly wondered this. The series never gave Madoka a chance to say good bye to her family and if Junko and the family were to discover what were going on, how would she react?

While everyone elses parents range from dead to absent, Madoka actually has a family. Homura didn't. She just sacrificed her one and only. I think Junko is open minded enough to accept that her daughter is gay. Not so sure that she'd take the "my daughter is god and the devil is in love with her" news so well. The PSP game says she does like Homura though, and she jokes that Madoka talks about her like "she found herself a lover."

I realize now I probably shouldn't respond to every single line like that. I may have misunderstood you a bit, but I still think your worries are misplaced. As for the devil love thing, I mostly agree, and I don't think it's bad. It's like a sick form of justice against the original ending. Madoka becomes goddess, Homura must accept it and fight on for the greater good. After rebellion, Homura becomes devil, Madoka must be picked apart and opposed for the greater good.

Yes, we need more Mami stuff. That one with Sayaka was kind of nice, but playing perfectly to Sayaka's feelings is still soft. I remember people being disappointed of the lack of hatred or any harshness from Homura. I guess those who firmly ship Kyoko and Sayaka would see it as much darker though.

How can you even.

Like I know a lot of people have to watch rebellion more than a few times to understand it and whatever, but Homura's self loathing is so obvious I don't see how anyone could miss it. Off the top of my head I can remember at least three times she puts a goddam gun to her head or soul gem.

Homura's witch's goal being to kill herself repeatedly isn't something that just came out of nowhere or was randomly drawn from a hat. It came from herself. So did the familiars being negative aspects of her own personality as she sees it, and the scene where she hatefully crushes herself into paste while crying, and the scene where those parts of her personality take their shoes off before leaping off of a ledge, and so on.

It was nee-san. Rebellion's ending was directly caused by Madoka's words in the garden. Granted Madoka didn't remember anything when she said them.

I do agree this would have solved the prolem, but Homu wasn't despairing yet so it wouldn't have been possible. Homu at the very least deserves forgiveness and a kissu for the shit she's been through..

I think episode 12 went put of its way to show being a concept sucked and the little hints from Nagisa and Sayaka made it seem like "heaven" ranged from lame to awful. The concept movie seemed to double down on that. Homu DID do something wrong in the context of Rebellion, but I dont doubt she'll be vindicated in the long run.
